7mm-08 Rifle Build for My Daughter

I'm going to build a custom rifle for my daugher; she loves to hunt and has been deer hunting for several years. She has been using a Remington Model 700 in 250/3000, but I want to build her something that she can use hard and now worry about.

I know that I will be building it on a Remington 700 SA, PacNor Barrel, with a Lone Wolf stock. Based on what she will probably be hunting; Deer, Antelope, Black Bear and Possibly Elk, I was thinking of going with a 7mm-08.

From everything I've researched it should shoot flat enough for the Deer and Antelope at longer ranges, and be big enough for the Black Bear and Elk with the right bullet and shot placement. She is a very accomplished shooter.

Experience/Recommendations on this caliber would be appreciated.

It's a great caliber with excellent bullet options for both reloaders and factory ammo shooters. I run one myself in a Model 7 Remington with laminate stock and love it. I have my buddies 7yr and 12yr old boys shooting it with 139gr. SST's and I run 140gr. Sierra Game Kings for myself. I haven't taken a deer with it since I switched from Factory Core-loks 2 years ago. The 140gr. Core-loks worked well from my experience on whitetails. My buddy introduced me to the caliber when he had a model 700 mountain rifle in it. I wanted a shorter rifle, so I went model 7. He had his rifle "taken" and replaced it with a Stevens 200 in the 7mm08 as well. They have been easy to load for and easy on the shoulder. I watched him drop numerous whitetails with his mountain rifle and none of them went more than a few steps, even when shots were poorly placed. I would think the heavy Berger or maybe even a heavy bonded bullet would be fine for elk and black bear. Most 139-140gr. bullets will be fine for goats and deer.

It is a great round. That is what my wife shoots and she does well with hers. I have been thinking of building one for myself.
This is this year 7mm-08 140 grain partitions.

Great Caliber! My dad has a Ruger m77 hawkeye in 7mm-08 and its a great deer gun....out of the 6 deer its killed only one ran but he only made it 12 yards (all with lung/heart shots) I am actully getting ready to take it out this morning deer hunting

I shoot a T/C Encore pistol in 7mm08 and am happy with it, If I had it to do over I might consider the 260 Remington but I am not switching just for the sake of switching.

I have an Encore pistol and M700 in 7-08 and use 140 NBT's for deer and a friend uses 140 Accubonds for Elk and it really works well.
