7mm load data for 140 Nosler Partition

I want to load 5 boxes of 7mm for a buddie in TX that I hunt deer with. He has a Ruger M77 SS bolt. I used this rifle last Dec at his ranch and shot it quite a bit to get use to the rifle so I want to replace the ammo and have plenty to use again this fall. The problem is without having the gun here how do I work up a load for it? Any suggestions on OAL, gr of powder that might be acceptable for his M77? I have new Rem brass and 4831Sc, and 4831 powder and 140 gr Nosler Partition bullets that work great in my 7mm.

That's a sticky subject. I don't know how much I would like loading for a rilfe I can't test in. However, if you stay away from max loads and use a very temp stabile powder, you should be safe. Just go with the book coal, I'd think. Either way, I think I would load a few, send em and have him test em, befor running through 5 boxe. It may be an extra expense, but worth it, IMHO.

I DO NOT reload for anyone except my son. And, I DO NOT shoot anyone else's reloads. Absolutely no exceptions. I have seen too many people "pack some extra powder" in their shells.
It isn't worth the hassle/possible liability, loss of friendship, etc.
I would rather loose a "friend" because I wouldn't reload for him; than because "something" happened.
It's enough work getting "my" guns to shoot well. I don't want to do the work for someone else.

Thats the good thing about H4831 in many loads its a compresion load, but I can understand fully why you dont load for others.

Thanks that was my thought as well.

I would just go with the start load for IMR 4831 and the OAL shown in the diagram.Such loads have shot well in my 2 Rugers (7x57 and .280) and there should be no pressure problems.

Here is your load:

65.0-65.5g of IMR 4350
Rem case
Rem 9 1/2 primer
140g Partition
Seat the bullet .005 off the lands
Velocity 3350

Very tight groups

DO NOT CHANGE ONE SINGLE COMPONENT ABOVE!!

Since you don't have the gun to measure with, I personally would not go anywhere near trying to load off the lands. Saami spec all the way and loaded on the light side.
