7mm Rem Mag VS. 7WSSM Build

You'll see why I put this in the AR forum in a moment.

I have a Winchester Model 70 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag with a 26in barrel that I absolutely love. I have been thinking about an upper for a long time for my AR in the 7WSSM since I see they carry similar ballistics on the charts. Now for the question.

What type of an upper would I need to shoot as close to my model 70 as possible in terms of barrel length and twist rate? Or is there much more I need to consider?

I would like to shoot factory ammo as I have not taken the plunge into reloading yet. I am sure one day I will as I did with "the black rifle" and will love it.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

You won't be finding 7mm WSSM ammo on the shelves.

If you want a 7mm WSM, you can get a custom one built but you'll need an AR10 style rifle to do it.

I agree there isn't a large availability of it "on hand". I have checked and ordering it didn't seem to be a problem, but maybe that would even get worse as time goes on and the caliber loses fame.

Looks like I made a mistake guys and was trying to make WSM fit in the AR instead of the WSSM.

I will go back to my books until I understand the difference between an AR10 and an AR15..

Ahh well honest mistake and at least it only cost me pride and no dollar bills.
