Picked up a Remington 700 sendero in 7mm stw. I know I posted before requesting info on this calibre, Ill try one more time if anyone has a favorit load.

Sorry I can't help.

My brother-in-law in Montana speaks highly of his 7mm STW. It's his reach out and touch something gun.

Since he doesn't reload anymore, I offered to reload for him and I had even found a good deal on some dies. BUT he turned me down because he already has about 3 boxes of factory shells and figures that those will last him many, many hunting seasons.

As he put it "It's a hunting round and not one that you take out plinking"

Good Luck

Chas, it took me a while to find it but, Voila. this was a custom built 7 STW on a 700 action.
Remington Cases
Fed 215M primers
Nosler 150 Partitions
75 grs of RL 22 was full MAX, 1.4" 5 shot group

73.5 grs of RL 22 shot the best. .780" 5 shot group
I dont remember the velocities and couldnt find them written down. I used Partitions for deer and they were awesome. DRT performance

I have a Ruger #1 in 7STW that I won at a Buckmasters Banquet a few years back, the fact that it was a commerative edition gun did keep me from using it. Everything that it has been pointed at in the field, was DRT(dead right there).

I am not set up to reload yet and only shoot the Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertip, yes I know that this load doesn't show the true potential of the round, but to quote some other memebrs of my deer club " That cannon you shoot has a VERY distinct sound"

I think it is one deadly round and if I was able to have a custom rifle built, it would be a 7STW.

try a max load of H1000 behind a 140 gr nosler ballistic tip in my rifle its 86 gr. but listed max is 82, email me for additional loads

mine is a custom built 700 with a pac-nor barrel. its barrel is 26 inch #3 stainless cryoed. has a H-S stock. kills dead dead dead. awesome rifle.

Retumbo with 160 gr Nosler Pations or 154 gr Hornady Interlocks at 3250 fps. My load is way over the listed Max, but 2 grains under the first pressure signs. H1000 proved to be accurate with all weights, and the discontinued Winchester WMR was a real smoker with 139 Hornady Interlocks. I still have 16 pounds of that squirreled away.
Why don't you check out these tested sources.

I have never really considered the STW to be that hard of a kicker. It is similar to the 300 Win mag with light bullets, and a good recoil pad goes a long way to taming it. That heavy Sendero will turn it into a pussycat.

Thanks Dogleg, I have a couple of pounds of that winchester powder myself. But I cant find any loads for it. Do you have a load for 120 or 140 gr bullets you could share?

CHAS06,
I am away from home and my records at the present, and don't trust my memory on this one. I do know that I got it out of a Nosler manual.Perhaps some one else can check it out faster.
Here's a question for you. After your two pounds are gone what will you do? That is not a lot of powder for a coalburner like that. You would probably get a load developed, not be able to load more, then have to start over. This is exactly what you don't want to do, as barrel life is too short to waste on unnecessary load development. If you can get more that's different.
If I get home before I see an answer here, I will forward the load data.
Dogleg

You know you are probable right, I have a lot of other powders in the Nosler book, 4350 4831 I think Ill try and make a nice load with these so I dont wear the barrel down, your right this thing does burn a lot of coal 75-90 grains at a time, thanks for the advice
