7mm TCU

I have a TC Contender with a 10" barrel 7mm TCU. I was thinking of trying it on Hogs. I usually hunt tight cover, so most shots will be within 100yds. Anybody have any experience with this round. Recommended loads for hogs?

The only experince I have is shooting a nice Muley, I was shooting the 120gr Hornaday, I think it is a good round you shouldn't have any problems with it shooting Hogs.

The 7mm TCU is a FINE round, and very accurate too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
IIRC, there is a 120 grain 7mm pistol bullet that shot lights out in the one I had many years ago. I think it was a Sierra bullet, maybe?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't have a lot of experience with it yet, only had it a year, but I use 120 Hornday HP or SP's over H322. It's a snappy little round. Wouldn't be afraid to use it on deer/hogs. I also use SR4759 with the same bullets for an amazingly accurate, lower recoil, plinking load.

The TCU is an on silhouette round, that was designed around the 154 gr bullet. I'm gonna be trying them this summer as time permits for a heavier deer load.

Very good round. Seems to me, I used a 130 gr bullet. May have been lighter but I can't remember (it was back in 1985 or so). Anyway, it would shoot clover leafs at 100 yrds off the bench. Always sorry I got rid of it.

i used a 120 gr TCU with great succes on silhoutte out to 200 yards- tumble steal rams just fine. I use much smaller on hogs- so in a round about way- no worries using a 7 TCU. You can always have SSK (JD Jones) ream it to a 7 JDJ, I have a couple 6.5 JDJD built out of 6.5 TCUs- what a cartridge that is. But you really need a Super 14 to max the gain. Keep Center

The bullet I shot may also have been a 120 grain one.
My experience with the 7mm TCU was in the mid 80's too.
All I remember is shooting three shots at 50 yards that all cut the same hole. I don't even remember what powder I was using..
