300 yards today with IMR 4064:

Remington 700 .243 Varmint.
Just a plain old SPS version I bought last year. I put it in a better stock, but that's all that's been done to it.

That's the SBT Blitz correct? Nice group.

Get some 87 Vmax or 87 Berger VLD's and try it again, could have a good thing going there.

that's a heck of an accurate bullet. My VLS likes them with 4064 as well, but for some reason I haven't shot many of them. The 87 Vmax shoots as good and is more "sexy" than that ole lead tipped Blitz. I may buy a box to try in the new 6BR while I'm fireforming my new brass just for giggles.

The 80g Blitz expands more reliably on yotes and chucks than the 87g V Max. I have had some lot# of the 87g V Max that shot well, while other lot# did not, I dont think that Hornady has their act togther on that bullet.

I shoot the 80g Blitz with a load of 41.5g of IMR 4064 with a Fed 210 primer(start off at 39.0g and work your way up) and I seat the bullets to just kiss the lands.

The speed on this load in my 24" stainless 700 is 3500 fps dead even.

If you would put the 87g V max on a Jenke(sp) bullet spinner, I think that would not be very happy with the results.

Jeff,

You know this doesn't count right? This is only 3 shot group and not a 5 shot group. Maybe next time...

Impressive group, nice shooting, Jeff!

Yep, the SBT. I've tried the Hornady 87 BTHP, but I haven't had much luck with them. I'll try the Vmax.

Ackleyman, I think I'm shooting 39 grains, which is 1 over the Sierra book max, and 2 under the Hodgdon book max. I'm about .005 off the lands.
The 80 SBT has been the most consistent of all the bullets I've tried in 3 different rifles.

My Tikka likes the 80 SBT's with IMR-4064 also, 39.8 at 2.615 (mine seems to like more jump) lit by a CCI BR-2 primer. I'm not surprised to see them hanging well together at distance. I haven't done any targeting at this range, but I did smack a few ground-hogs wayyyyyy out there with this bullet. Great BC and sectional density stats. Does well in wind, doesn't seem to foul as much as the Nosler 70's for example, seems to be able to get through the grass tips a little without major disruption=misses, and yet when it hits it really hammers the stuff hard. I've only shot the smaller plastic tips in my 243, 55's, the 58 V-MAX. But so far, the 80 SBT (Blitz) bullet is my favorite. I do however plan to try the 75 V-MAX this summer. I think 70-80 weight is where I want to be with my 243 to keep the speed up around 3400-3500 fps for flattest possible shooting. 39.8 was like 3,375. Explosive!

There is an accuracy node around 39.0-39.5 and another one around 40.5-41.5 using Fed 210's or CCI-BR-4's. Use Win brass if you try the hotter accuracy node, velocity will be right at 3500 fps.

You can shoot a coyote in the stomach and he will be laying right where he was standing with this 80g Blitz.
