870 ejection problems

It gets stuck right before the ejector can push the shell out. I have to push the pump forward a little bit and pull back to eject it. Doesn't matter how hard I pump it. It does it about half the time. This is a loaded shell but it does it with empties too. It's an older gun and didn't use to do this. I replaced the extractor, plunger and spring but didn't change. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my Wingmaster. The magazine tube cap wasn't screwed on quite tight enough and it wouldn't eject. Try tightening it.

ok I have that shotgun. I think maybe the ejector is getting ready to break. Mine broke and I was told thats a common problem.

Didn't replace the ejector because I don't have the tools. As far as I can tell it's fine. I read on some other forums to sand out the chamber. I tried it and it seemed to work. Can't get it to jam with a live shell. I'll take it crow hunting today and give it a test run. Slowly but surely I'll get this gun working properly. Thanks

Some Express Models have a rough or even egg shaped chamber, but I don't think that is the problem here. Your problem is happening after the shell is out of the chamber and I would look very hard at the ejector now that you have replaced the extractor.

That will be the next step. I'll take it to a gunsmith. Im sorry, I didn't mean chamber. I meant to day I sanded inside the reciever. There were some burrs and rough edges from wear and tear I sanded out that were in the right place to jam it. Thanks

Took it crow hunting. Still jamming. You were right GC. I guess I'll get a new ejector put in. Anyone know how much a gunsmith would charge. I know the part only costs a few bucks.

Took it to the gunsmith today. Bent ejector spring. Hopefully he can bend it back. Replacing it will take a while and be pretty expensive.

thanks, parts are cheap but the rivets have to be removed so the reciever has to be re blued.

Re-blued? Why? I think it's time to get out the camo paint!

Bluing is cheap and easy. What Rivets need to be removed? The bolt comes out easily. Remve barrel, open action, then slide closed and the forend and bolt comes out.

Oh... Ejector, not extractor.

Ok. That is easily removed. Get a NEW sharp drill bit. There is One rivet. Use a small punch to keep your drill bit from walking. Drill it out and replace. You wont have to touch up the reciever. It will all be internal and if you are careful, the finish will not be harmed. Lay the reciever on a nice firm bench with a towel under it. Use a punch to seat the rivet. GTG!!
