917vs Misfires?

I have a Marlin 917vs 17 hmr. It shoots really well. But about every 10th round or so will miss fire. Where the firing pin hits the shell it does not look any different on the shells that fired than the ones that did'nt. I have used several different brands of shells and it does it with them all. What is causing this? Is thier anything I can do without taking it to a gunsmith? Thanks.
 
Same thing happened to me back in 2007, I shipped it back to them and the issue was resolved. I like these rifles very much
 
I had the same problem. Sold the rifle and bought another, problem solved! I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, just what I did. The Marlins are amazingly accurate for a low dollar rifle. Mines got the wood stock and a HB. Shoots Win. ammo really good.
 
Guy here at work had same problem. Marlin told him to ship back the bolt. Then 2 weeks later they told him to ship back the whole gun. Now a month in & $30+ in shipping later, he still has no gun....????
