9mm carbine for predators?

Well if you used the proper bullets and they were really close I don't see why these 2 guns wouldn't work. I have had 2 so close I wouldn't have hesitated for a second to pull out my Springfield XD in 9mm and popped the yotes if I would have had it.

I did some quick checking, and a 115 gr 9mm from a 4" barrel still has about double the energy left at 100 yards as a 40 gr .22 mag from a rifle, which has taken more than a couple of coyotes over the years.

My first gun killed coyote was with a Baretta 9mm @ 85 yards
with a 124 XTP. Yote droped on the spot and the wound was a through and through.

A 16" carbine 9mm load equals or exceeds most 357 mag loads out of pistols.

357's have been used successfully to hunt deer size animals.

Go ahead.....mine works wonders...in my opinion it seems to hit harder than a 223 under 100 yards.

As several folks said the 9mm has enough energy to kill coyotes, but 9mm cartridge even in a carbine will not work at extended ranges that often present themselves when hunting coyotes.

I've found that you also need a weapon that delivers excellent accuracy and coyotes with a six inch kill zone needs a gun/cartridge combination that will deliver this kind of accuracy at any ranges that you expect to shoot at.

If you keep your shots within the accuracy potential of the rifle/cartridge combination your shooting the 9mm pistol cartridge will work.

I've been hunting coyotes for the past 45 years or so and have killed a few with a handgun, but have found that a flat shooting rifle with minute of angle or better accuracy equipped with a good optical sight works much better, at least out here in open Western country.

9 or 40 carbine would not be something I would recommend. Heck, I can kill yotes with a .22 LR if it is close enough to shoot between the eyes. A larger caliber centerfire rifle is the better way to go in my opinion.
