If you are planning to go through quite a few rounds and don't reload..Go for the 9mm as you can find bulk sales of them more often than the .40s...Brownell's has a current 500 rd box for $125....
If you reload and have a good progressive press, then it's totally your choice as the cost will be close to the same for either caliber..
It depends upon what you want it for. For my use, I'd take the 9mm for the cheaper ammo. If I were depending upon it for serious self defense or police use, I'd go with the 40.
I bought the wife a 40 Hi Point Carbine for home defense. And to match the ammo for her S&W 40 Compact. Another advantage for me is that the carbine magazines also interchange with the Hi Point 40 pistol I keep in the truck.
Yeah I do reload. I am considering the Hi-Point myself. I have an LC9 so that is why I would consider the 9. If I did not then I do think I would go for the 40. How does that Hi-Point shoot?
i have a high point 9mm carbine. it shoots awesome. super accurate and really fun! It will tear the bullseye out of a target at 50yards if you do your part. will buy another in .40 when they go one sale again. also have the high point .40 pistol as my under the seat truck gun. Not a pretty gun but sure shoots well for $140!
A family member has a Beretta Storm in 45ACP very nice guns and fun to shoot. I wasnt sure if I would like them at first because they are kinda funny looking, but I was pleasantly surprised.
