A good dog team for running yotes?

First off I'll say Howdy, just registered, been predator hunting some off and on tryin to get abit more into it right now. One of my buddies is wanting to get some dogs for this intention. Now I know alot of people like to run something besides the coonhounds for the "hit dogs". Which I've saw a bluetick tear a bull mastiff to pieces and I don't doubt a black and tan or bluetick in a fight with anything but he's wanting to mix it up, get them all as pups so they work as a pack. Here's my idea to team up. He's not going to be doing this just right away and I've got a young pretty good sized female bluetick right now i'm planning on breeding with my best friends black and tan...he's quite an impressive and huge built hound as well. So I mentioned maybe using the pups of that litter and for the real hitdogs throw some pitbull pups into the mix. From what i've saw I'd personally almost feel bad for the predator that ran into that pack. If brought up right the pits can cooperate with other dogs and i wouldnt expect much yiping from the pits. anyone tried that combo before?

What you'll get is a dog... not a hound. He probably won't have the sense to track game, and if he does won't have the stamina to keep up with it. There are several hounds that will fight and kill a coyote by themselves, and many many packs of hounds that can kill a coyote together. If you are wanting to raise a pack, why not get a pack of hounds that will do the same thing, and you'll have less trouble with training and won't have the problem with fighting other dogs. So in my opinion get real hounds instead of mixing up with a pit. See ya, MOyotehunter

That was what I had mentioned to him. Stick with a whole pack of hounds but he's really wanting a mix. I know I wouldn't put much up against my buddy's B&T. that ol coonhound is just a beast.

if you wanting to run yotes with hounds. the last breed i would even think is a pit. i have hounds that will kill a yote one on one. none of them have a bit of treeing blood in them most any one that i know that uses treeing blood to run yotes has them cause of a cold nose and not the fight.if you have never run a yote with hounds your in for a big sirprize. you need a good tracking system first off.99% of running hounds will run in a pack. they are a pack hound. you dont need to raise them from a litter to keep them in a pack.you will get more spped and staying power ina running hound then you will most treeing hounds. have you ever been to my web site? there is plenty of members there that run yotes and any one of them will help you any time.

A friend of mine runs curs for coyote. You really don't need treeing blood, cause yotes don't tree. What you do need is a hound with lots of stamina. Doing a cross with a pit?? think you'd end up doing alot of walking with the winchester on a cross like that, so unless you like doing that type of thing......

The other thing besides hounds needed to hunt yotes with dogs is alot of other hunters. Unless you just plan on listening to the hounds chew yote fur, you will need enough people to cover the area you intend to hunt, and block all the exits. It's a large undertaking.

He said he's for sure about wanting to run blueticks. But he is big for the notion of using a couple pitbulls mixed with the hounds. I thought that they would be pretty good stamina wise, since they're used for boar and the likes.

there are alot of guys and gals in the uk that are Xing the greyhound with the pitt and they are taking everthing from coyotes to wild hogs i dont like the X but its bing done with graet results
