A Little Snake Bite

Now i need to start snake hunting too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
i think i saw as many rattlers as i found deer antlers this year. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
that is a work of art, if i had 800 bucks i would buy it.
how did you get the hologram of the guy with a camera in there. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
real beauty++++++++ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Man that thing turned out SWEET! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif I hope the blank i bought like that will turn out half as nice as your call did /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gifAre they a beast to turn?

Hey, I just thought of something. That should work for calling snakes? Put a whole new spin on predator hunting if ya could call up a snake. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Every time I come into this forum I get amazed at the talent that is in here. This call has got to be the MOST unique call I have ever seen… VERY impressive!

BTW… if ya’ll charge by the hour NO one could afford your calls. They are an art form with great roots in the history of hunting. Consider yourselves lucky to be a part of that, there are not many people with the skills and imagination that you call makers exhibit. A big THANKS to those of you who work you butts off on calls that don’t get the price they are really worth. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

Greg, it's funny ya say that. It's the first thing my 5yo daughter asked when she saw it. "Daddy, do you call snakes with that one." /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Satch, it was as easy to turn as any cast acrylic rod. The only difference is you can't be too aggressive with the tools, or you can obliterate the skin.

JA, thank you for acknowledging the fact they don't sell for what they should. Most people don't know how much goes into making a call, as far as time and money is concerned.

Brian.

You know, (maybe this is a subject for anther thread?) I have often wondered how and why all you call makers sell them for so "cheap"? IMO, they should cost more /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif, I have bought a fair number from you guys and all are first class. The quality reflects the amount of work that goes into them, which is obviously a lot. Again, IMO, why would anyone buy a "factory" made call when you can get much better and more personal one here? Just my 2 cents. You call makers are a special bunch!

Thanks i appreciate the insight! Hopefully when i get to turning the blanks i picked up i wont go to deep, i have never even tried to turn acrylic yet but from what i hear it is not to bad to work with, except for the cost of 25.00 (per snake skin blank) that you can only get 1 call out of gets a little pricy if you screw one up, so i think i will try some regular acrylic sometime before i dig into the expensive stuff. Thanks again

Satch, acrylic is not hard to work at all. There is a learning curve, just like everything else. I will say it makes a nice change from all the extra work in finishing wood.

Brian.

Now that is one classy call! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif You kind of took the suprise out of your Fancy Call Contest submission, though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Definately a bar raising call.

Ironically, Bryan Stanley and I were talking about homebrew snakeskin acrylic blanks on the phone, just last Thursday. I saw a bunch of snakeskin blanks at the wood store and told Bryan that he should attempt it for his calls. I'll be danged, if you weren't already working on it. You did it justice! Great job!

Edited to clarify intentions for those whom have nothing better to do...

Tony

That's the best looking call I've seen since THO brought out the bonker. Outstanding job Brian. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
I'm gonna have to get me one of those and put it next to my THO Bonker, my Arky Crackpipe, MattS call, Kee's Custom Howler and ........dang, I'm running out of room on my lanyard. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Guess I better get another lanyard too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Man there is several here that make some extra credit calls that dont get mentioned enough, you ought to see some of the stuff Kerry Carver puts out as well as Brandon Boyd, Tony Tebbe, etc as well as brian that dont get enough recognition.
Take care
