I admit it.
I haven't watched any Country music awards shows in years.
I have rarely listened to "modern Country" in the last 4-5 years.
But, last night I thought I'd try to watch the Academy of Country Music Awards show on CBS.

And I now realize just how far off the rails Country music has gone, since I was a kid ('70s-80s).
I couldn't believe who some of the presenters were...Bono of U2; Ashton Kuecher; Lionel Richie; LL Cool J; and...OMG...KISS!!!

Now, don't get me wrong. I've been a huge KISS fan since 1976. But I NEVER in my wildest dreams, would have expected them to ever be on a Country awards show!!! That's just insane!!

Yup Will, nothing beats the country singers/song writers of yrs gone by. Johhny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, ect. I don't even listen to country anymore

There is no country music anymore. Its all pop music with a country twist aimed at selling songs to fill up 15 year old girl's iPods. I refuse to listen to any of it.

Who are today's Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, or Don Williams?

There are still some good ol' country boys out there. They just arent "mainstream". Check out Jamey Johnson's "The Guitar Song" album. That is probably the best country that I have bought. I do listen to the new country. I like alot of it. But, I too don't consider it to be true country. I take it for what it is. I also agree that some of it is no where near country music. Plus, I don't really care about who won the awards last night. I was just watching to check out the hot babes!!

At age 57, IMHO, Reba is still pretty dang nice for a redhead!
Gotta still love Martina at 45!! (plus she's a former Kansas girl)

Sara Evans was still smokin' last night...and those super-tight pants left VERY little to the imagination!

Then, even though she doesn't have a "model-type" body, I think Maranda Lambert is pretty sweet on the eyes too.

I have to agree with most , it just aint country anymore and like many i miss real country music.
 
I stand corrected, I do like Jamey Johnson!

I am more than content to listen to old country music from the 60's through the 80's. Same with rock music. Ronnie Milsap singing "Nobody Likes Sad Songs" or Bob Seger bleading out some "Turn the Page" for the 1000th time will never get old to me!

I thought it was an "OK" show, but like Will said before, ENOUGH with the rappers and rockstars presenting the awards!

Get Bocephus or George Jones or anyone who is actually a country music singer to give the awards.

I did like hearing Brad Paisley singing "Camoflauge" though...

i love country music but im so sick and tired of hearin about taylor swift the girl cannot sing one bit !!

give me luke bryan , jason aldean and justin moore and of course miranda lambert !!
