Adding Crow Sounds?

I was thinkng about geting a crow call to add a sound to distress calls for coyote hunting. I was thinkin that if they heard a Rabbit with a little bit of crow added that they would be more willing to come in cause since a crow is there then it must be "safe"

What do you guys think of this? would it be effective or am I just overcomplicating things?

Sounds good to me the first one I called in the other day a bunch of crows heard the rabbit distress and fly around cawing for about 5 minutes.

I believe stewart has already done this with the arsenal preymaster cards. I heard it works well. But ive called alot of yotes with plain ol sounds. Im curious to hear the replys. It would be very itresting to hear from expierianced performers of these sounds,Works or dont work????

Yeah thats what I was wondering. My thinkin is along the lines of sometimes you howl a few times and then hit the distress sounds. So instead of howling (and I don't mean this time of year just thinkin in the future) Just use distress and toss in some crow. Sort of a set them at ease cause another animal is there, a less threatening animal (no need to worry about gettin your butt kicked)

Just something I been thinkin about cause I saw a crow call in a sporting goods store.

I have used crow sounds with great success. If seems to have a calming effect on Coyotes as well. I have recently been experimenting with Magpie sounds since we have a ton of Magpies. I think I might be on to something because it seems to work like magic. I dont think I have ever seen a dead thing in this neck of the woods where there wasnt Magpies. So far the evidence would indicate that Coyotes know this as well.

I have a "hawk" call that I sometimes carry, it's little, about 1.5" diam. by 2" long. I don't remember who it was produced by but it sure sounds like a red-tail hawk.

I was calling a couple of weeks ago and had picked up a dead J rabbitt off the road threw it down and Put the FPro next to it and howled one time went to the rabbit dist I had more Magpies than I think I have ever had on a stand some crows in the air and 3 coyotes showed up, as soon as the birds showed up I turned off the caller and just let nature call them in.JC

I have had good success in the past year using crow sounds, blue jay sounds, hawk sounds and owl sounds with the distress sounds. I often start out with a red shouldered hawk sound and after a few minutes play the distress sound. This has proven to be very effective. I found a web site that had most of the birds of North America on it and downloaded them. I converted them to MP3 and loaded them on to my Bandit caller. The owl sounds are deadly when calling crows.

My first MP3 came to me used but loaded with some sounds.

One day I was showing it to an a neighbor and started the Crow/Jackrabbit combo on it.

Well, we are chatting away and 'ole Willie shows up. We were in plain sight and I HAD NO GUN!!!! ....... oh Crap!

Well, I quickly shut it off to limit how much damage (education) had been done. We hid behind the truck and that 'ote just did not want to leave. Tiring of the fiasco I had committed, we showed ourselves and that 'ole dog still was a little smitten with the sound he had just heard.

So Yes, I would say it is a big fear reducer. After all, look at how jumpy crows are.....

"It's gotta be safe, when it's "crow safe"".

Every time I use crow calls, every crow form a hundred miles away comes in...So if you're not getting yotes to come in then you can start shooting the crows. I think that you should do it. It only makes it sound more realistic

I didn't keep notes on the web site address. I did a search looking for North American bird and animal sounds. I will do the search again andf see if I can find it.
