Anyone familiar with the browning boss?

An adjustable brake that requires no gunsmithing. It reduces felt impact 40%. Sharpshootersupply offers a machined installed permanent brake that reduces recoil by 60%.
Which would be better. My reason is I got a savage Model 12 varmint with a 26" bull #10lbs.

I intend to have it lightened by fluting and length cut to 24 and have a brake added.
Sharpshootersupply also offers Barrel Turning (to sporter weight) for $40.00. I assume that means cutting the diameter of the barrel from bull to medium contour to sporter . Is that correct? At $40.00 that would be a good deal. Reducing the barrel to medium coutour and adding a muzzle brake would be the ticket

Just to clarify, what caliber are you wanting to put it on and what is the purpose of the rifle?

Its a 308, I bought it for everything predators, varmints and deer. I'd like to use it out to 600yds with 125gr NBTs

The Browning will give you 40% and that's pretty good considering they have a big hole in the brake, it is hardened to 50 RC, and that's great as it reduces the fire cutting of the ports to almost nothing. The adjustments work best with sporter weight barrels. I think its way over priced. The Vias brake is around $100.00 and its probably the best on the market. It does require barrel threading, any gunsmith should be able to thread it for $25.00?

The Vais breaks are excellent, but like most, add a lot of muzzle blast and noise to the shooter and even worse to anyone close beside him! You won't want to be shooting w/o hearing protection. ('course you shouldn't anyway...but in the field...)

Fred does good work. I have a friend who has two of his muzzlebrakes, one on a .22-243 AI and another on a .300 Win Mag, both Savages,......and the brakes are effective. Better be wearing your hearing protection, as should those who sit on either side of you, however.
