I have a Remington that came with a new X-Mark Pro trigger and don't know how to adjust it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Has anyone found anything on the net that gives instructions, or maybe do you have actual experience? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Everything I read about it said it had to be done at a autherized Rem. dealer or smith. Whats the point of having an adjustable trigger if you cant do it your self? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

It's a liability thing... There are three screws just like there always were... I just want to make sure they all do the same thing they did on the old ones.

I'm afraid that if I fiddle with it I'll mess it up.

BTW... I TRIED the search engine and came up dry.

I bought a Sendero in September that had their new trigger... it's much better than the old one. They didn't give it a name at the time. When I called them about it, they just said "... a completely new designed trigger".

So now it has a name! The "X-Mark Pro".

The adjustments are sealed (like all Remingtons). It is a great trigger. Mine was 3.6 pounds out of the box.

The actual trigger pad feels much better to the finger, it's better contoured to the pad of your finger.

I'll soak it in paint remover to dissolve the glue, and bring it down to 28-30 ounces.

There is one part of adjusting that might be tricky for some. The over travel screw is also part of the safety, and it MOVES when you put on the safety. But it will prevent the accidental discharges when coming off of safe that plagued the last design.

CatShooter,

Do you know if the same screws do the same thing as before?

In other words is the one that adjusts pull weight the bottom front one?

I'll get back tomorrow... I have one in the rifle, and I have an extra on the bench.

The screws are not in the places that you would think. For example, in the old one the over travel was in the back, now it is in the front and rides on a bracket that blocks the trigger when it on safe.

My understanding is the new trigger will retro-fit to older model 700's. When I emailed Remington about that I was told that at the present time they were not selling them yet.

I've had pretty good luck with the older triggers, but will be interested to see how the prices are going to compare to rifle basix and Timney for replacements.

IDBob,

I don't look for Remington to sell them separately for quite some time. They'll want you to buy a new rifle if you want to get one and if I were Remington I'd do the same. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Then... When they DO start selling them separately I bet they'll want somewhere around $200 or more for them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been buying the Rifle Basix triggers in some of my Remingtons for a few years now and am very happy with them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

When I ordered my Sendero, I called Remington and asked if it would have the new trigger.

They said they were not sure, since the production for the rifle was about the same time s introduction of the trigger.

But they said if the rifle didn't have the new trigger, I could send it back and they would swap triggers.

Also... the new trigger is a direct replacement for the old one - uses the same housing.

.

Catshooter,

Uses the same housing?

I wish I had take photos of mine when it was off... The housing is about the same dimensions but that's where it ends.

There are several differences that are much more than subtle in the looks of the old one vs. the new one.

I'm sure that they are "drop in" but the housings look markedly different to me.

Wow, Now for your question. Yea it wooks about the same
Front up overtravel Front down I believe is still the return spring (pull weight) back is sear. Use a new high quality allen wrench. I did'nt have to touch the sear.very little on the overtravel and about 1/4 turn on the return spring to get 2#. The locking compound is really tough.
Good luck Denny

Yes.. they look different. I have one of the old and one of the new on my bench now... the new one has a complex safety with levers and cams on the outside, and on the left side there is an inspection hole for setting the over travel screw. But it is the same housing and is a drop in replacement.

The safety has a bunch of levers on it now, and they are on the outside (right side) so it looks more different than it really is. When dropping it into an old, close fitting stock, it might be necessary to clear a bit of the stock away on the right side to clear the levers of the safety.

Dennyr,

Thanks... Finally got the information I've been looking for all along... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
