I've adjusted MANY of the old 700 triggers (with about 20-30 minutes of trial & error you can usually get them pretty sweet).
The other day I got to piddled a little with a friends new gun with the X-mark. All I did was loosen the bottom screw in front of the trigger a decent amount (obviously the spring, just like the old ones). Tested; then checked to see if it would drop slamming the bolt... (It didn't). Tightened it up ~3/8 turn for safety and locked it back with a dab of blue.
The new trigger was impressive to me. Took A LOT less effort to make it good. (It's still no Jewel, but $200 cheaper /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif)
One thing we did find out... Putting the new action & trigger in an older VS stock. We had to inlet a bit more fore the trigger. The safety block was hitting under/beside the hanger.
What ever you do, BE CAREFULL. Make plenty of checks for safety. A good trigger is NOT worth an accident. If in doubt, take it to a smith!!!
