I tried an old way of preserving a hide by using borax ,stretching and drying. The hide turned out ok but it has that gland smell.I need to know if it will wash out and will it rehidrate the hide and mess it up etc. Thanks for any help.I even thought of using it for a decoy since it still smells like a wet dog.

there is a recipe that works well on skunks. it uses hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dawn dish soap.
1 quart peroxide
1 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon dawn dishsoap

you will probably need at least 1 1/2 gallons to work on a yote. soak for maybe 1/2 hour at most, then rinse. any longer will bleach the fur.
i have also read that womens douches work well........

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the help. This is the first time to do a coyote.I will probably get the tanning kit at G- Mountain next time.

don't know how to help ya with this yote but in the future, after you skin and flesh your yotes or any other fur for that matter, wash them in a 5 gallon bucket of water with wool-lite. it will take most of the smell out and will make the fur shiny and soft. you might try askin this question on one of the taxidermy sites on the web? good luck, jeff
