Well boys, its that time of year again here in OK. when the coyotes start running our dogs out of the woods! Went out last night, and turned loose just after dark. Scent conditions were outstanding, and the dogs were fresh and ready to go. As always, we dropped the tail gate's, and watched 9 hounds go in 9 different directions. Within 20 min, my new pup (litter mate to the late great Zip) had one jumped....... kindoff. He oppened, went about 100 yds, and started baying, finally got it moveing again, for another 100 yds, and bayed again. None of the other dogs went to him, and within 10 min, the fight was on. Well, the pup just didnt have what it takes, and he got his ear streched out. When he came back to the truck, i was pretty nervouse, his neck and chest were soaked in blood. After a quick look, i could see it was just his ear. I tried to get a pic, but it was the first time with the new camera, and i just pushed the button, rather than hold it down, and didnt take any pics. lol. Well, I decided that was enough of that, and got my other two caught, and did a little "cheating."
This time, i left the pup, and one female at the truck, and took the old female on foot, and helped her get it going. right away he stoped again, but with me and the female close on his tail, i gave a little whoop and hollar, and he decided to run. i haulled azz back to the truck, and grabed the other two, and took them on a leash as close to the race as i could, and cut them loose. Now we had a race! and my hounds were in it to stay. At several times, we couldnt hear the hounds barking over the barking and howling of coyotes. They closed in pretty tight around the dogs, and the one hound of my buddys that joined the race came back to the truck.
The hounds did good, and kept the heat on him for about an hour or so, and he decided to stop and try his luck, only this time it didnt work out so well for him. The rest of the night was pretty much a wash, had a few races that didnt amount to anything.
This is the new pup, after i figured out how to work the camera, lol. most of the blood had been whiped off on wet grass at this point.
Just after those pics, my camera died, so these pics are from this morning when i got home. the white one is the new pup, and the tri colored is my younger female. The older female was tuckered out, and didnt want anything to do with it, lol. And the Fat one in the background is my pit Sooie. she had nothing to do with it, just in the background.
