AK 47 for coyote? sks?

The 7.62x47mm will put a coyote down much better than your rim fire, no question.

Check local regulations about magazine capacity to see that you will be legal. In Arizona, you can use only 5-round magazines while hunting. The SKS has a 10-round mag, in factory format. May be hard to find a factory 5-round magazine for AK (you may have to modify one).

Oh, yes, be sure to use soft-point or hollow point bullets while you hunt; the fmj bullets will not have much affect on the critters.

Likely, you will find the SKS to be the more accurate. My SKS has a much better trigger pull (quality-wise) than any AK-47 that I have fired.

Hope this helps.

Demonband, there was a gun store in Muskegon Mi. that went out of buisness this year that sold them. I will check some of the other stores out around here as they may have bought him out. I will send you a p.m.

"7.62x47mm will"
i'm sure this was a typo bbut the SKS aand AK 47 fire the 7.62x39mm cartridge
and yes they will work on coyotes

I know a couple people here in Arizona that have AK47 as their only hunting rifle. It will take any size game from squirrel to Elk. Although you will have nothing left of the squirrel. You can easily get 5 round mags for the AK and ammo is cheap! Only dwnside is that I wouldn't try to make a 250 yard plus shot. I've been thinking about giving an AK a try for Yotes also. They are fun! Hope this helps.

I have killed a couple of coyotes with my AK. Mine actually is one of the Bulgarian versions that has a Steyr barrel. Pretty sccurate believe it or not. One coyote was shot at 125 yds and the other at 150 yds.
