Aliens got coyotes?

I haven't heard a coyote in two months. I mean hunting, in my yard, in the deer woods, etc. I've been 3-4 times, nothing. This past weekend a friend of mine and I went. He went to some of his spots and I went to some of mine, on the opposite sides of town. ZERO. No foxes or cats either.

Maybe it's the heat?

Two months?? Rookie! Haven’t heard a coyote in 6 months!! I have to watch videos to remember what they sound like. I’ve tried night and day calling just to hear something to let me know they’re still around somewhere. One of my landowners put a camera on some hogs we’d killed and was wanting to see what predators showed up and had nothing but pics of buzzards and one possum. I do have a new spot to try soon when I get a good South wind…HOPING some are there and they’re vocal.

Our season is closed until October, so from April until then, there’s not any reason outside of helping a landowner with a problem. That said, historically it’s a pretty quiet stretch for vocalizations in my experience. It seems like around me, August is when I start hearing the groups getting vocal again. I’m referring to just natural, unprovoked coyotes vocalizing.
I’m sure you guys that can hunt them can trigger vocal territorial responses when you get in their bubble. I’m sure it’s possible here too.

My last trail camera photo at my bait site was May 18. It’s been slow. I don’t hunt them in summer months but do bait and monitor. I usually begin seeing them more often around August or September.

when they bring them back can they bring more ? or at least some dumber ones. you know...slam a car door and they come running in, your boot sqeeks slipping on a wet stick or squishing in the mud and they come running in.

you forget to load your gun and it goes "CLICK" and they stay there until you load and shoot....those kind :ROFLMAO:

Don’t vocalizations drop off a lot when they’re raising pups, so as to not alert anything to where they are?
That has been my thoughts for April-June but by July I see half grown pups by themselves. Biologists claim they explore at that age but regroup. Makes me think that vocals should work and has worked well in the past for me but not last summer and so far, not the last 14 sets. I just started hunting mid-June.

High number of fox the past 2 months.. bohunr and I discussed some options for this season since we do not target fox...same with coon.
Have had some vocals.. and I actually missed one last night.
Generally I don't have yearlings approach till around Labor day... and they are timid, sometimes taking hours to work in.

They were sounding off last night and this morning in northern Minnesota. I was surprised because the neighbors were shooting off fireworks throughout the night and the previous night. Didn’t seem to bother them one bit.

Heard a whole litter piping off and a few different coyotes challenge barking at me.

Not a peep from yotes or any hogs near Palestine Tx. Did see deer and the fire works didn't seem to bother them. Three nights and one rabbit(?) was all else I saw in 3 pastures.

Been hearing them out in front of our place for the last month or so. I'm hoping that bodes well for this fall. I'm going to get out the third week of this month and see what happens.
