Alpha/Turbo dogg sound question

doggin coyotes

I got a chance to look at a Turbo Dogg caller today. I noticed the sounds were prefixed with RA and GT. I know RA is Randy Anderson. Who is GT?

Anybody know?

It wasn't mine and I didn't get a chance to do any field testing with it, but from what I briefly heard, the dang thing sounded pretty good and was capable of some major volume. I'm gonna get my hands on it and play with it a little more.

I just got the alpha dog and am really not impressed by the sounds at all!! Volume good , caller nice but few of the sounds are garbage.

GameTraks was the first thing that came to my mind too. Thanks.

Agreed, some sounded like they were recorded in a 55 gallon barrel. Some sounded pretty good. For calling predators it looked like there were a lot of useless sounds loaded. (Same with about any of the other callers on the market.) I think every one of the sounds are made with hand calls(RA blown)? Maybe not the GT sounds? Or maybe so? Even if they are, some sounded pretty darn good and would no doubt call animals.

BUT, aren't both Dogg callers programmable by the user? Put some good sounds of your choice on the caller and the crappy pre-loaded sounds is a non issue.

MY big concern would be remote issues. Range and reliability out in the field. From what I've read here and there, some think the remotes work great, other guys think not so much. Our Wally world has em in stock. Might have to test drive one. Gotta love Walmarts return policy.

So is Gametraks making the Alpha/Turbo Dog line of callers? Maybe this has been mentioned before and I missed it. I'm guessing they do if it's capable of playing their proprietary sound files.

The Doggs are manufactured (well marketed/branded) with the Primos name on em. Maybe GT has a partnership of some sorts with Primos?

But I'd guess Primos bought the rights to use some of the GT sounds? Primos should look into buying the rights to some JS sounds.

Since we're on the sound buying subject, what's with the Flextone callers and the Wildlife Tech sounds that are on them? Flextone must of bought the rights to use those sounds from WT?

I'd wager your correct about Flextone buying the rights from WT. Cass Creek has a caller with WT sounds on it too, so they must have bought the sound licenses too.

Gametraks must somehow be into the design of the Primos callers in someway in order for them to legally play their proprietary files.

I got a Turbo dogg for a back up caller and find we use it more and more. We have used a foxpro for the last few years and wanted something with some fresh sounds. I've been extremely happy so far. I really like the remote and being able to add as many sounds as you want, delete the ones you don't use or like and set up call sequences. You can make new folders and put what sounds you want in them. I've had the remote loose contact with the caller a couple of times but that always seemed to happen with the foxpro too. I think its some type of interference but because it has the little icon on the remote you can tell when its not communicating. That's a nice feature. I ended up making a little stand to set it on to get it up off the ground. I wish it had a threaded base like the foxpro where you could just attach a spike to it and stick it in the ground. All in all its been worth the money and has been calling in some critters.

The only thing I do not like about the new Primos ecalls are the remote connection to base unit....looses it ALL the time unless you have the call no more than 30 feet from you. I have went through 5 Turbo doggs out here, all with the poor remote/base connection and you will do nothing but cuse at it.
Its very loud, easy to download & mix sounds to....BUT even though primos sent me a new remote...that one cant even find the base!
The remote screen washes out in the daylight also.
Primos is aware of these problems as I have been asking them to fix it for 5 months now.....No more Primos for me.

That hasn't been my experience at all. I certainly don't doubt you, I've just had much better range than that from mine. Nearly all my stands its been out beyond sixty yards, mostly around seventy five. Was this an issue that you had from the beginning or did it work for awhile then start the problem? Just wondering what to expect. As a general rule I hate remotes of any kind.. and cordless tools!

i too like the turbo dawg works great but only had mine bout 6 months 100yrds in the woods bout limit but never set it that far anyway but i would love to know were you found sounds for yours im haveing trouble got some but cant get any crow or fox

They were that way from the get go. Primos did contact me today wanting the complete unit back after the new remote they sent failed to even recognize the speaker. Others like you have had no issues, & others like me have run into the remote loosing connection at yardage over 30 feet or more.

My pal found the WT sounds online & downloaded 100 or more of them, others are from varmint Als site and from Tony Trebbe on this site. Using the free audocity sound/edit file he also formed his own hunt sounds mixing coyote/rabbit/fawn/mating sounds.
