Alright how the heck do I take the rear sight off a 10/22

I can't get the darn rear sight off my ruger 10/22. Do I need to take the barrel off and crank it In a vise and pound the crap outa the sight with a pin punch?

It snaped and I'm trying to remove the base

Also when can I get replacements for them?

pull some kroll oil on it wait 1/2hr use a punch and hammer to drive it off.

I believe it has to be driven off left to right.

Just put a scope on it and forget about the rear sight.

Yep... a re-barrel and a scope eliminates the problem right to the core.

thats how I fixed my 10/22

I asked how to remove the sight, not if I should put a scope on. I have one barrel ground smooth for a scope, and I want one with sights if I feel like goin open sights


Thanks for the info, it's in the vise with clp break free workin on the rear sight
