Angle compensation rangefinder

Hey guys, I'm in need of a rangefinder. I want one with angle compensation that will reach out to 700 yards. I'll be using it for both bow and rifle. The big issue is my budget only allows me $400 max. What's your suggestions? Thanks!

What are you trying to range game animals or a large reflective object? I have a leopold 1000xbi and i can range a grassy hillside out to 500-600. Just cause they say 1000 yards doesnt mean you can ramge a deer at a 1000 yard.

I would like to be able to range deer out to 500 yards. I've heard a lot of good things about the rx1000 but now Leupold released the 1200 and the 1000 are getting tough to find

The Vortex will do deer at 500 pretty easily IME. It is also the ONLY one on the market in your price range with a full lifetime warranty.

I have ranged deer to 500 easy with the vortex and hill sides and boulders out over 1000.
It is the best one for that money and lifetime warranty.

I have a buddy that has the rx1000 and when he cant range it I get out the vortex.

I would be keeping it but I have the need to range little targets out to 2000 now so I had to spend ALOT more money to get a used one that would do that.

I believe it. I show folks the Leupold next to the Vortex, they typically go with the Vortex. I'm not a fan of the Viper rifle scopes and lower, but these see quite legit IMO/IME.

I have the Leopold RXII and the angle compensator part of the computer stopped working. It only gives me the direct line distance to the target these days and won't display the true horizontal angle. Not sure why it did that. It work fine for about two or three years and then suddenly stopped working properly. I too am looking at the Leopold 1200 range finder but knowing that my first Leopold stopped working and they won't fix it for me makes me Leary of going with another Leopold Unit. Although the 1200 one has a lighted display that I hope works at night or in dim lighting conditions such as dusk and dawn conditions. Maybe I just got a lemon?

But I did like my Leopold when I first got it. It made me figure out what "bullet Path" actually means. And it got me wondering what MOA was so I did some research and figured that out too. My unit still shows me the angle up or down though. So I can use a calculator and figure the Cos of the angle and use that to modify the line of sight distance to the target for shooting up and down hill I guess.

Leopold won't fix my RXii unit. The true distance displays the same and the line of sight distance but still shows me the angle up or down from horizontal. It's not calculating the true ballistic distance accurately anymore like it did when it was new. They should provide a warranty on their units that better but they don't. I called and was told that they could not help me.
