Another .375 Win. range report...

Well I finally got some loads rolled for the .375 Win. Contender, got out and shot some today and I like what I see so far. I dont see anything wrong with this group, but half the fun of reloading is experimenting, so...

I dont have a chrony, but the empties look great with no signs of high pressure. But, unless something spectacular happens with accuracy, I really see no reason why this wouldnt do just fine as a hunting load. The old doll kept up with my 3-9 x scoped Omega muzzleloader today very easily...keep in mind shes only wearing a Red dot with no magnification. The aiming point lost its sticky and fell off, so I traced a circle around it to show where it was in relation to the group.

5 shots @ 100 yds. 1 3/8" group. Two shots in lower right hole.

Nice grouping. I would sally forth with what you have. I had a 375Win in Ruger #3. The dog leg lever just ate my fingers alive, and I hated the stock. I sold it and bought a used #1 in 300Win Mag and had it rebarreled to 375 Win, using the 375 H&H barrel profile. 1/12" twist. I am running 235gr Speer bullets. I am following Paco Kelly's loading data and using 38/55 Win brass. Holds about 4 grains more RL7. To make a long story short I should be in the 2200fps range. I have not shot anything other than paper with this load. My groups are not as small as yours. I am in the 1 3/4" to 2 1/4" @ 100ds. That is minute of deer though. Why have I not shot a deer, with that rifle, in an area that is overrun with deer? In three years, no less. By the time rifle season opens on Nov 15th I have already arrowed my two deer. That is all I am allowed. I really like the cartridge though....and one of these years.............
