Another Alberta coyote.

Got some permission on virgin ground close to home. Owner had snowmobile tracks on his trails so finally had some easy walking in all this damn snow we got here in December this season. Coyotes are running on top now. Myself not so much. In an attempt to keep things relatively quiet I set the caller on the skidoo trail and settled in. First howl sequence and man did they light up. Unfortunately my hasty setup was in the wrong spot and as they piled out of the timber I was in no position to get on them and sadly watched them circle wide to get the wind advantage. One female couldn’t take the fight/breeding sounds I was playing and rushed the caller only to lock up behind a willow tree and start howling her displeasure. After what seemed hours she finally moved out of her safe zone. 150 yds full frontal and the 17 Remington zipped a 25gr Berger into her chest. Dropped at the shot. Owner was happy there was one less out there to bug his dogs.

That's awesome. The 17 Rem really peaks my interest for Coyote hunting. What platform is your caliber in? I looked at a Model 7 and was shocked they wanted 2k for it.
It’s a custom build by KS Arms in Edmonton, Alberta. Their own Remington based short action, I could not find any 17 Remington rifles for sale when I got the itch to have one so… I got one built. Mostly paid by coyote pelts back when they were high dollar at the fur buyers. It’s my favourite fur rifle now.
