Mature bucks have been scarce since our season opened, but hopefully it will get better with cooler weather. Still at or near 90 in the afternoons, and low 60s in the mornings.
Hogs have been at my feeders ever night. This one has been hitting it every evening right before dark and was there in daylight the last 2 mornings. I hunter my other stand this morning, but after I saw him on camera at the other feeder until 8:30 this morning, I decided it was his time to go.
Got there at 5pm just as the feeders were going off, but not activity of anything until right before dark when 2 small sows shows up with 4 choats. I held off of them waiting for the boar who had been showing up at the feeder in the other direction down by the creek. Daylight was almost gone when he slipped out, and the 6.5 CM cut him down. I didn’t think he was that big at first until I tried to drag him over to the low spot where I planned to load him on the hitch hauler.
Hauled him to the skinning shed for a weight and decent light for a picture. The girth tape measurement of 41 inches equates to 211 pounds, but the actual weight was 204.84. The girth tape continues to be within 10 pounds or less consistently.
Maybe the deer will get a little more corn now. This is the 3rd 200+ boar off this same feeder in the last couple of months.
