I'm buying a Remington 12gauge 870 Shurshot with a 21" barrel and a Extended Extra full turkey choke.

1st ? Will this choke work ok for coyotes?
2nd ? I would like to install a fiber optic front site, what is your opinion on the color options...green or red?

Thanks

Here is the 870 Turkey

ANY choke will work for coyotes. BUT, there's SOOOOO much more to it than that. Read the sticky thread on shotguns for starters.

Really doesn't matter what color any of us like. You will be the one that has to be happy with it. Try em both.

Personally, I like the plain old white bead.

Im using the factory extended choke in 1 of my guns now and it patterns ok. I would recommend getting a different choke though. I also have a primos tightwad($20) in another gun and it patterns alot better but the best choke I know of for remingtons is the primos jelly head($40).

thank you mnbowhunter for your opinion. What would be an acceptable pattern when shooting #4 Buck? I'll also check out the Primos jelly head.

Im shooting an 870 supermag with 26" barrel and factory Mod. choke. Im getting consistent 8 pellet hits in about a 10" circle at 50 yds. Shooting a Remington 41 pellet 3" #4 buck shell

I might lean towards RED simply because the green might be harder to pick up in foliage.

I got my shotgun today and took the choke out and it says Lead Shot Only, I have some Federal #4 and don't see on the box where it says what it is. I have some other Federal ordered and the description says copper plated. Can I use this stuff with my choke tube?

Not sure what to tell you about that factory choke and what you might want to run through it.

I do know that you can get a Carlson's Dead Coyote Choke for that gun for not very much money and it will work with #4 buck and any of the heavier than lead stuff designed for coyotes etc.

The Dead Coyote tube I have is thicker out on the end than the Rem factory turkey choke that I happen to have, not sure how it compares to yours.

Looks like I'm good to go with the Federal Copper Plated #4 Buck Shot and my "Lead Only" Remington Choke Tube

Answers below found on Remington Web site.

Is it safe to shoot copper plated shot through my lead only turkey choke tube?

"Yes, Remington turkey loads contain extra-hard lead shot with Copper-Lokt plating for surface smoothness and added penetration. It can be used in your turkey choke tube or any other Remington choke tube."

Can I use steel shot in Remington turkey chokes?

"For Remington Turkey chokes, we recommend using lead shot or copper plated lead shot. The Remington Super Full, Extra Full, and Ventilator choke tubes are not recommended for use with steel shot."
