Ok the batteries come pre-charged.We know that.We also know they are not 100% chargerd when you open em up.I think they are 1.2 and reg alkline are 1.5 volts when at there best new.Now what I don't understand is why I have to charge my eneloop AA batteries a couple hours when I have not used them and I fully charged em within 2 weeks? I know they say retain about 80% blah blah blah. But If I go out calling with them at 80% in a 2000mah 1.2 battery it seems I'm lacking the power I really need VS a fully chargered 2500Mah battery or a regular AA 1.5.My caller seems to tell me this although it don't talk in english. So can someone please help me understand this? The way I see it I'm better off with a 2500mah and charge em before I go calling because I have to with the eneloop anyway within 2 weeks of not use.I'm all ears

You shouldn't have to charge them if they were charged just 2 wks before. But...if you are going out into the really cold morning, then it wouldn't hurt to top them off.

I had my Eneloop batteries sitting for 6 mo's and when I checked them they were still at a 80% charge. I was able to still use the caller for about 4 hrs with out any problem (that was at 45 degree temp).

All my Low Discharge batteries work just like coyote control states. Mine are all 100 percent for over a month. Bobcat is correct that the 2500 mAh batteries at full charge and used right away would last longer. About 25 percent longer. But if used a week after charging the regular NimH batteries would only last about 10 percent longer.
I also get about 3 to 4 hours out of a set of Low Discharge batteries

I'd imagine in the long run, you're better with the Eneloops, since you won't have to put them through so many charge cycles. I wouldn't worry about that initial "topped off" charge with the Eneloops after sitting 2 weeks. You're only losing a tiny fraction of power with those things and will probably not notice any performance issues by just using them. If you're pretty good about remembering to charge the standard Ni-Mh's then you shouldn't have any problems though. The low discharge Eneloops, Imedion's, etc. are handy for those who want to charge them up and let them sit, or forget to charge them. The low discharge models seem to be performing better at lower temperatures for me as well, so I've been really happy with them. Next season, I'll analyze all my standard Ni-Mh's and toss any bad one's and get a new batch of Eneloops to try out, giving me 2 10 AA packs of low discharge type.
