Another new trapper needs help with lynx lure

So I live on the kenai peninsula in alaska and am new to predator hunting and trapping. This winter I plan on using bridger # 3 coil spring traps in cubbys and walk through sets as well as snares.ill be using snowshoe hares and spruce hen wings for bait, the biggest question I have is what scent lure should I use.i know the trails the lynx use and where z couple scat piles. I'll mostly be setting in thick forest and the temperature in this area is usually around 10-20 f but can drop to -10 or -20.any information or advice is greatly appreciated

Cat I have never trapped lynx, but I have found with cats here that they respond well to any cat gland scent I have lions set my cages off every year so I would think lynx would also check out the smell.
I use O'Gorman lures but there are many around that work well and I am sure you should be able to find some Lynx lure somewhere.

God luck in your quest!!

I would try some straight up castor... use it liberally and it will retain good "sniff" even in extreme cold... cats love it!

heck, just go trap a few beaver and cut the oilsacks and castor out and use it fresh.. I bet you'll like it... and every animal in your neck of the woods will check it out from marten-wolves

Yep, anything beaver. Beaver was always my first choice for baiting cubbies for lynx, plus wolverine can't resist it. I also had good luck with spruce grouse or snowshoe hare as bait, so for scent, I would go with castor. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice so far, gonna try beaver castor and a couple lures based with castor.another question I have is should I use lynx urine on or around my set, could the urine scare off more than it attracts. Also I tried anise on a box trap set I've been using for hares and there were cat tracks right up to the box. I'm wondering if the cat came to the anise or if it was following the hares that we're coming to the trap. This year in my area lynx season is a month and starts soon so I'm trying to be as effective as possible on all of my sets
