Anschutz 64

Bass Pro has a 22LR Anschutz with a heavy barrel. All that's on the barrel is Anschutz Match 64. Its interesting but its been "Bubba-ed" IMO. Its been threaded and has what looks like a 30 cal muzzle break on it. (I guess the recoil was to heavy.) And the stock has been painted camo with a high gloss finish. Also has 4-5 1/4" holes drilled in the bottom of the stock in front of the trigger guard. (Maybe to lighten it up a little.) The good part, I think, is they are asking $250 for it. Even though I wouldn't mind having it, I really don't need another "project". I'm thinking by the time I fixed or replaced the stock (if I could even find one) and had the barrel fixed I would go in the hole. I don't know what this little Annie is worth as I can't find a similar rifle on the internet to judge value. If it were a 54 for $250 I'd be all over that one.

Had a 64 for a lot of years, is NICE rimfire platform . It not a 54 with a 54 trigger group, BUT 64 TG is still pretty sweet ... You dont see a lot of them on the resale, people just throw them in the safe and keep them.
Buy it . 250-$ is well worth it just for the Receiver/Bolt and the Trigger group .
Barrel cant be worn out, It's a 22LR . strip the bore and re-season with your favorite Lead .22 . No biggie that the muzzle was threaded, and that could be hit and miss if was shortened OAL , even though every Anz. build has the last couple inches of barrels with choked muzzle Bore . The barrel still probably very accurate.
.

I'm guessing it came from Europe, a lot are being imported and they are putting cheap brakes on them when the suppressor has been removed as a thread protector. Look for a tiny importer mark on it.

Also has 4-5 1/4" holes drilled in the bottom of the stock in front of the trigger guard.
If close to trigger guard could be for some home-made palm rest for offhand shooting, if farther forward could be for a makeshift forend stop. Plugging the holes w/dowels and refinishing stock doesn't look all that bad

That’s cheap, still probably worth the price for the barreled action.
You can probably find a good stock for it on Rimfire Central. I’ve seen a few on there fairly recently for 64 actions.
I have a like 1416 that is the 64 action. It shoots very well and the trigger is excellent. I paid around $1100 for it used , but it came with everything as new.
They were discontinued for the new 1761 model, so no more being made…parts are alittle hard to find but are available.
64 Match, is likely a single shot…may have had a bell taper on the end of the barrel. You should be able to find out more info if you can get the serial # on the action…barrels are replaceable.
Idk how much I’d want to sink in to a 64 action, if it were a 54 that’d be a different story.
I have a 54 and it is much better imo.

If it were a 54 I'd be all over it. I may just let it set for the next guy. I've spent way to much on firearms lately. And even though I love a nice rimfire I don't shoot them much.

I’ve owned 64 and 54 action Anschutz rifles. Both are excellent and unless you’re a great shooter, you may not notice a difference in accuracy.

I actually went back out to Bass Pro today and looked at the Annie again. With the stupid muzzle brake and the stock I just can't bring myself to even make an offer on it. The holes in the stock just look like an issue trying to fill them and the muzzle break. surely they ran a suppressor, who knows, but it will need gone!! It looked like machine screws holding the trigger guard on. Basically your buying a barreled action and even it needs attention. I think I have all the "project" guns I need right now.
