Ok guys, I have just gotten a phone call from a good friend of mine. He had 5 hunters cancel their antelope hunt. Since it is a last minute deal, he dropped the Price down to 1750. This is a guided hunt for 2 days. If you dont kill(But you should) then you can stay for another day until you get your goat. This price does not include any food or lodging. The hunt is located in the TX panhandle around the Dalhart area. If you guys are seriously interested let me know ASAP. Thanks Jeff

Wonder what the guys who canceled thought.

Considering the success rate of unguided hunts thats hardly a sweet deal...apparently they figured that out too.

This is not a canned hunt. The success has always been 100% in the past. It is antelope, how hard are they to get.
I am just trying to let everybody know about a good deal on a solid hunt. There is plenty of antelope, and if you guys want a good hunt that has plenty of action, especially if you are trying to get your kiddos involved in hunting, this is a good start. Thanks and good hunting Jeff

Antelope can be plenty hard to get if you are looking for a trophy class animal,at that price i hope they gaurantee a B&C buck.

If you want a B&C class goat, I have the hunt for you. We book in NM for $3250. That is no lodging and no food. Now if you think 1750 is too much for a quality goat, it is gonna be hard to find a guided hunt in TX or NM for cheaper. The Landowners sell their tags down here for around 1200-1500 a piece. You guys act like this is a ton of money. This hunt sells for 2500 normally.

i think they were saying that there are tons of antelope and that normal unguided hunts have a 85% success rate anyways, so why spend that much on a guided one....when it can be free. i have no idea, ive never even seen an antelope. just wanted to clarify why they were objecting

My point is that in TX there is very little public hunting for antelope. The tags are given out to landowners and then 99% of them sell the tags to outfitters like us. The odds of you getting a non guided hunt in TX are slim. I appreciate you trying to clarify.

well I to can see why the objection but thats in texas ...up here a guided elk hunt with lodging and food runs $3000 or so for 5 days and speedgoats are plentiful so most that don't live where there's not open land to hunt don't realise there paying for trespass fees more than anything else but $1750 for a speedgoat in my opinion is way high priced (alot of ranchers in Wy think of em like you Texas guys look at pigs ) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In Colorado and Kansas we call them Prairie Maggots

Still $1750 for a guided hunt sounds fair for city folks, executives etc. The problem I believe is most of the folks on this forum are not city folks.

Anything guided is expensive doesnt matter what state you reside. And every state has its share of guided hunts at outrageous prices (not saying this one is Jeff) so noone here on this forum is exempt, lets dont play all innocent. Ive looked for a mountain lion hunt and cant seem to find one for less than 4k and thats every state in the nation. Mule deer, elk, yep maybe cheaper but they are a pretty penny. Unless that is you care to wait til the cows come home to draw an out of state permit.

Some hunt for cheaper because the way they go about it, public land, no guide, and a permit is all they have to worry about. Some people like to travel and want to hunt other states. When they do they expect to pay too.

Tommy , your right label a hunt as guided and its pricey... I wasn't saying $1750 was over priced and when ya add privite land onta it that makes it worse , I was just stating that from where I live its high priced ...and if ya want a lion hunt find several guys that just like to hunt lions someone will take ya out just to run there dogs and not charge you a dime /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I have a neighbor that just likes to run cats and will take bout anyone out that wants to go no charge, and another buddy will run cats if you do the driving he supplys the dogs /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Exactly bowjunkie, the word of the day is "guided". We're talking the same language now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Doesnt sound like a bad deal on the cats. I cant beat a deal like paying for gas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

There were a total of 6, that's right, SIX antelop tags available to the public in Texas this year. Nope, I didn't get drawn either.

A contact I have was going to get me a pronghorn hunt, but.... yep, you guessed it. The racher that used to would give him a permit now sells them to the "outfitters".

Sometimes, I wonder if outfitters are good for hunting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif I guess they are if you have plenty of money.

A guided lion hunt is considerably more expensive than guided antelope, but there is one heckuva lot more time, manpower, dogs, and equipment involved in chasing lions than a 2 day antelope hunt. Especially when for $1750, or whatever the bargain price was, the hunter still has to scrounge up his or her own lodging and grub.
