CCI 400 primers are hard to find. I found some Winchester small rifle primers. Any difference in the two as one being tighter in pocket or harder or other issue. Thanks, Don
CCI 400 are from my experience are OK unless you get close to max and they will burn thru the firing pin strike. The Winchesters are probably a better bet anyway. I use CCI 400 all the time but I keep the loads well below max and when I load for AR’s I go BR4/CCI450/Remington 7 1/2’s.
Not sure this data is up to date but still interesting and may be helpful

In response to the red print only.

Never had that happen, Better check your firing pin me thinks.
It was on an AR and just happened recently so it is possible that it is firing pin related. I had shot quite a few CCI 400’e thru this gun without any issues and noticed a few that had burned thru. Maybe just the particular batch as I have used at least 8000-10,000 of them with no problems but I never used them with loads close to Max and normally do not load with them for AR’s but I was loading large quantity for 3gun and the loads were moderate so I figured they would be fine. I switched to Remington 7 1/2’s on that same load and the problem went away completely.
I have never had an issue with either primer. I load BL-C2 at 26.0 grains and Accurate 2230 at 24.0 grains behind 55 gr. bullets. .223 REM. out of a 5.56 NATO chambered 16" AR-15.
