Any Georgia Coyote Hunters.......

I'm in Florida but my friends with Georgia and South Carolina leases say they're overrun with 'yotes and are starting to see fawn kills.

I'm going to be doing some predator control for them this fall in exchange for hunting rights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

No.... I don't need any help.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Howdy Jeb,
I'll be needing some help this fall!!
I'm just getting back into calling, and won't do anything but scouting until cool weather.
Read some of the old topic starters[any ga.coyote hunters] and there seems to be some nice fellows on-board.I would like to get together with some of you guys and shoot the breeze, eat, drink sometime.
My expierience is fox calling years ago with some success.I'm sure not to much time will go by before a coyote/bobcat will be on the ground. My philosophy is nothing to it but to do it..I been cruising the wma's looks ok,saw a turkey with a doe watching it.Then saw a huge groundhog reared up on the railroad track. It knew my 22-250 is in the process of a new scope[burris black diamond] and stock[hs precision].
I have very little expierience with mouth blown callers--no electronics in wma's.What about you?
Well bud just saying I'm here, hopefully the rest of the ga.hunters will be around.MIKE

Hey Mike,
Good to hear from another Ga. hunter.....I'm up in NW Ga close to Rome. You've got mail.
Jeb

Jeb,
Back at >you got mail!!!
Got a new cz 452 american today 17hmr should make a good fox gun.
Where can a guy get a powerful 6volt scope light??MIKE

I bought a Optronics from Cabelas.......6 volt spotlight that clamps to your scope.Comes with a red lense aswell. Seems like I paid $40.00 to $60.00 for it, cant remember.
Jeb

just saw your post jeb, i dont do much hunting in the summer just a little scouting. i would be interrested in getting together to make some fall hunting plans though with other south eastern hunters. i have access to 1400 acres inside of oakey woods wma. oaky woods is 17,500 acres. i hear and see sign but no kills yet but just started last fall. i also have a farmer family in alabama begging me to come kill coyotes on their 6000 acre property west of birmingham. long way to go though. lets see if we can pull together a meet to talk with some of these guys. wayne parkman 404-724-0405. atlanta ga.

Waynep,
How's the scouting coming along??Do you own a howler??I got some nice places scouted out.How much do you hunt in a season??I'm ready to put in some serious hours,I use to big game fish and people wanted to know our secret to winning big tournaments>----drag lures for 10 hrs. straight.!Coyotes/bobcat not going home without one.!! I might even take up camping out there--sleep when I can't go no mo.
Where you at uncle dave?-----Jeb I know you're around.

Wayne, if these folks need help, there's talent nearby. Email me anytime.

jeb,mike,v-maxsplat not watching the board close enough for timely response will try to do better. mike, as to your question about how hard i hunt we are the opposite maybe i enjoy the hunt more than the kill. for me the whole outdoor experience is more entertaining than the final results of a sucessful hunt. the reason i became interested in varmint hunting is the night hunting aspect. also the target is a lot more cunning than other species i have hunted growing up. i plan this year to spend a lot of time camping and evening and night hunting for yotes. i hope to hunt in alabama where i have been invited maybe we could put together a small group hunt there. or i know we can get together on any wma here in georgia. i am particularly interested in night hunting and camping. my children are grown and off at college so i am on my own. i have no experience with calling or predator hunting i do have extensive experience with deer hunting. please dont misunderstand my comments about preferring the chase to the kill. i really respect people who get results in whatever they set out to do, i just hunt for pleasure and relaxation and therefor not a hard charger for results yet. sorry for being so windy. lets get together and make some plans to hunt 404-724-0405.

Hey vmax, where are you from?

What is a typical hunt like for the Ga. people. How many sightings , how many kills , etc.
I have all but given up, hunted hard last winter , some in the spring and a few days just here
recentlty. Give me some clues.

Hey Cory. I'm from the Birmingham area. Hunt in Pickens county on an old dairy farm (800 acres). We've got a few resident yotes there (minus the one I blasted with my Ruger 44 carbine last winter /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif ) but seem to have more bobcats. I'd love to expand my calling territory to get on more coyotes. Bobcats aren't nearly the challenge, IMHO.

Cory,
We have good population of coyotes, probably the same as you in Al..This is my game plan--get a treestand--get a howler-- get a decoy--learn what you're saying with the howler.Go over to varmintal website-learn to do the various howls.Better yet get a partner and howl back and forth at each other, like varmintal does.Scout out a good looking spot lots of scat and tracks etc.>answer to your howl

Mike, this is a lil' more helpful. Do you seam to have more responses to howls or prey sounds?
How many coyotes do you typically call in in a year of calling?
In yor opinion what is the best month to call, understanding the heavy deer hunting pressure surely upsets the coyotes patterns.

Cory you've got mail--I typed it here all 3 paragraphs and my computer dropped it --again.

All Georgia predator hunters Waynep and I are going to the Perry county ??shootarama in a couple of weeks it's south of atlanta so feel free to meet us there!!!Wayne and I talked on the phone for an hour or more friday--great guy.Mike
