I kept my eyes on Ebay and grabbed a Mec 600 jr several years back, at the price of buying 410 shells it doesn't take long to recoup your expense if you shoot it much.

When you get the loading stages....BPI 2.5" Multihulls, BPI Magnum 410 wads, 1/2 oz shot, and Lil Gun powder is an awesome combo.

I started loading for my .410s recently with sucess. I am using a Mec 600 JR and the #10 bushing with Lil Gun powder in AA 2-1/2 inch hulls. No scientific data but I began by alternating reloads and new AA loads, no felt difference and busts clays nicely. New AA loads are $11/box, reloads about $4.50 without hulls. The reloading savings are way more than 12 gauge-those I buy at Wally World. Easy too as I have Lil Gun around for my Hornet. Bob.

Thank you for the fedback guys!
I know about nothing in the shotgun reloading world so please bare with me...

Is $170 a good price for a Mec 600 jr? http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=403128
Does this press come with every thing I need in the for of dies and priming equ.?
Can you tell me about Shot and powder bar?
Other than the bar what elce will I need to be ready? (assuming I have hulls primers powder wads and shot)

What about a crimp dies?

I might get a new one if this is a good price.

Thank you

I'm thinking about getting one of those myself. Midway is the place to get them too because they have them setup for either 2 1/2 inch or 3 inch right out of the box ( I'll be loading 3"). Adjusting them yourself can be a pain or so I'm told.

They come with everything you need to load target or light field loads. Then latter you can get different powder bushings and/or different weight charge bars for heavier loadings if you wish.

This place has a good selection of MEC stuff too.

About the only thing you need to start loading besides components is a shotgun reloading handbook. A book will help you figure out what powder and corresponding bushing you should use. It is optional but I would also recommend a scale of some kind to help check powder charges.

Yes,It's all there.Crimp dies are in place, charge bar for 1/2ounce loads, 3 powder bushings. Mine is the same set-up. Had it loading in minutes. Price is the going rate and will pay for itself in no time. The hardware is included for 3 inch, but I don't use so can't report about changeover. Mec loaders are great, I own six and have been loading with them for over 40 years. Cheers, Bob.

Hey thanks guys

If any one has changed over form the 2 1/2 to 3" I would like to know how it was.

Justin you said yours is set for 3"? Are you still using just 1/2 oz of shot? I would bet that is a fast load, no?

Thanks guys

I load alot for my sons 410. I started out loading brass for it then applied the same technique to plastic hulls. I have homemade stands, I use 1 to deprime with a small punch, 1 to prime with a socket welded to a punch stem and then I cut the crimp section off and add powder, fiber wad, shot and glue in an over shot card with a small amount of silicone. They work great and go together quick.

I haven't bought my reloader yet, but no I don't plan on using the 1/2 oz. charge bar much. I mainly want to copy the heavy load that Winchester offers. A 3" hull with 3/4 oz. of #6s at 1100fps.
