Anybody have a Savage Model 12BVSS?

Like the looks of this gun quite a bit. The laminated stock, fluted stainless barrel. A bit on the heavy side though. Anybody have one or knows how it shoots?

Not personaly, but we just picked one up for the B-inlaw in .223. He mounted a Tasco 8-32 Target on it and we ran some White Box Winchesters through it to get things started. This is the High Profile one with the black tip on the stock. The one thing I really like about this version is the grip abgle. It is pretty much vertical. Any how, we got dime sized groups with no trouble with the little 45gr Winnies. Being a 9inch twist barrel, I expect better from the 69 gr Sierra for Grounghog Target shoots. He plans to use it in the factory class.

My next door neighbor has several and they all shoot excellent. With just a little load development they all will shoot consitant clover leaves. One option would be to by a lighter stock for carrying (any Savage heavy barrel stock will fit or a Boyd's) and the BVSS stock for bench work. We have done a lot of sanding and dremeling on his to change the grip to have a palm swell and thin them so they don't feel like a 2x6.

I have the 12FLV, difference is the stock and mines moly not ss. I have never had a rifle that shoots out of the box as well period.
I have added a choate stock and SSS bolt handle, along with a Leupy 6.5-20x50 LRT and was able to shoot the best group of my life with it, A .16" group. Mine is in .308 win.. I know it's a little heavy both in weight and cal. for a varmint rifle but that's what I use it for. You'll never go wrong with a Savage......

I have one in 223. Mine has the POS plastic stock but is still pretty heavy. It is pre-Accu Trigger so I installed a Timney. With no other modifications it is the most accurate gun I own. It shoots everything good but does better with Black Hills 55gr V-max. It shoots them so good I don't even try reloading for it.
I don't think you can go wrong.

I have one in 22-250 with the accutrigger. This gun is a tack driver. I don't use it yote hunting too often because of the weight, but it has made several trips afeild. I love to use it groundhog hunting. Set it on a rest and go to town. You would not be disappointed.

I have one and it shot 1/2 out of the box with reloads.
Did a little over an inch with factory ammo but that was when they first came out. The factory ammo was loaded hot then and accuracy suffered. I understand factory ammo is a little cooler and more accurate now.

You will want to bed the lug and skim bed the action.

If you reload try IMR 4350 @ 62.5 gr and 168 gr boattails for accuracy loads.

180 to 200 gr bullets will give hunting accuracy at near max loads.

If you want to get stainless mounts and rings contact Near Mfg. for a one piece mount and TPS for the rings. Expect a wait for both as they don't tool up for the stainless stuff very often.

i have the 12bvss 22-250 accutrigger. bought it for a prarie dog rifle. have to say it has been carried alot in the field for coyotes. most accurate rifle i have owned. always .5moa or better. best group .183 4 shot 100 yd group. dont see many 4 shot groups? well thats what the magazine holds.

I have two in 22-250. One Accu-trigger and one std trigger. Both shoot very well. I bought these for my son to use on PD's. Little heavy for calling by most folks standands. Great PD rifle.

Me and my buddy picked one up on here. I didn't need another .223 so I let my buddy take a look at it. He ended up buying it. Thing shoots very well. If it was a .22-250, I would of bought it.

I picked up a Savage 204 with the low profile varminter stock and then switched that stock with the bvss stock which is a little heavier. I've also had a heavy barrel savage with the plastic stock which has no balance at all.

My rifle with a Weaver 6x20 Grand Slam scope, short bipod and sling weighs just under 13lbs. which is great for my purpose of shooting prairie dogs, but I wouldn't haul it to the truck to go coyote hunting.

The rifle shoots great.

I HAVE ONE IN .22-250 AND IT IS VERY ACCURATE I USE COYOTE HUNTING. IT'S NOT LITE BUT I CARRY IT. MINE LIKES THE WINCHESTER WHITE BOX I ALSO HAVE THE ACCUTRIGGER, GOT IT AT 1.5 LBS AND IT'S GREAT.

I have one in .223, did some loading and some trigger tuning. 55 gr.sierra blitkings and 26 gr. varget 5 shot group measured .191!!!! I really like thus one!!
