I am looking at getting one of these and was wondering how well it ranges on things like coyotes, sagebrush rocks and stuff? How far have been able to get them to range on these kind of things ?

I just picked one up but haven't been out with it yet other than ranging stop sign at end of my road at 649 yards.

I might have to try to range a deer or two if there is enough light in the AM. Its been pretty dark yet when I leave for work.

Laser range finders look real good against road signs, cuz they are very reflective - and the look better when it's dusk or dawn.

To see how it really works, try it on a sunny day at noon, against a dark, non-reflective target.

I don't have a Vortex, but so far the best rangefinder that I have seen and have is the Bushnell ARC Fusion 1600 rangefinding binoculars.

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, but I have ranged rocks out to 1589 yards. Plus they are bino's so I don't have to carry two different pieces of equipment.

My two cents: Save your lunch money and get the Bushnell.

The Bushnell binos are pretty good I have seen them in action, ranging elk at over 900 yards and ranging objects a d buildings 1200-1300 no problem...Jason

Bobtails,
Buy the leupold or the Leica I have had the vortex for about 6 months 700-750 is max I can seem to get it to range my big complaint is the clarity at longer ranges was hitting mule deer with it last night at 600 and had a decent buck laying at somewhere between 500-565 lol it couldn't quiet make its mind up my buddy had the leupold 1000 seemed to do well but just my 2 cents

Bushnell does have a Fusion ARC 1600 rangefinder. It supposedly uses the same technology as the bino/rangefinder.

I have the Bushnell 1600 Elite Arc for $500 it's a pretty decent deal,, while it seems to range bigger stuff really well not so sure about the smaller stuff.I've ranged rocks out 1843yrds and some barns and what not past 1600.The biggest gripe is the red read out,,if it's a bright sunny day good luck reading that sucker it's a pita.More than once I have not been able to get a reading on a yote past 500-600yrds on pancake flat crop fields which is pretty tough to do with most any rf.

Bushnell Elite 1600 ARC
