anybody recomend a good camera for filming hunts?

I would like something that zooms in pretty good. those go pro cameras do not seem like you can zoom in. also would like one that is waterproof

get yourself a nice handy cam... I always recommend these to people wanting to film because they are fairly reasonable and take good footage for what you pay... They are easy as pie to run also.. You would be surprised at how many outdoor tv shows are shot with a sony handy cam...(not as their main camera but a ton of footage) and make sure you get yourself a decent little tripod... If you want links P.M me. I've used a ton of cameras on the market from $200 to $100,000

it says walmart has the handy cams for around 250. that is right in my price range. I don't want to spend over 300 for one

I had a Contour that I mounted to my rifle. No zoom so coyotes at 100 yards look like a little dot.

I went to the Handy Cam and it works great.

Just whatever you do make sure and get a tripod that has a decent head. You have nothing without steady footage.

anybody got a good recommendation for tripods and tree mounts and stuff? 99% of my hunts will be by myself so I guess it will be similar to surviverman

Vanguard makes a nice tripod thats inexpensive and will still last you years to come.

+1 on the Vanguard.

I have a tripod worth about $500+ (Manfrotto legs and head), but honestly the Vanguard VT-560 (now discontinued) seems to work as well if not better for me. I tend to prefer it over the Manfrotto, and it was available for something like $100 at the time.

A good sturdy tripod with smooth panning will make a big difference in the quality of your videos.

As to a good camera that won't break the bank, I use a Canon HV30 that records in wide screen and high definition. Great camera. It too is now discontinued, but you might find a good used one for a song and dance on Ebay. Just a thought.

I have a canon vixia and its small compact camera that has very well picture. I had a vanguard tripod and I only used it for a year before I replaced it with a manfrotto. It wasn't very smooth moving. Pretty jerky. Lost a lot of kill shots because of it. Just my experience.
