Was wondering if anyone else here uses a red dot sight on their M4 style AR for called coyotes. I hunt in east central Ohio and cover is thick hardwoods with open crop fields and hay fields. Most shots are 150yds. or less. I see most use some variable power scope, but I use my Burris XTS Speeddot sight on my RRA M4. True both eyes open shooting seems to work out good, plus my rig is pretty light. I am going to put together an RRA 20" varmint model with a Burris FFII 4.5x-14x scope over the next few months.
Anyone else use a dot sight on an M4 for Coyotes?

I was going to put an Eotech on my 16" AR, but as we do sometimes get longer shots out here, I went with a regular 3X9 Nikon instead.

I use an ATN Ultra Sight on my M4 type AR15 with great results out to 200yds. This is a perfect type of sight to use on running targets. I also taught myself to shoot with both eyes open using this sight. That really opened up my field of vision. I recommend this type of sight except for longer range shooting and very bright snowy days.

I used to think that my Aimpoint was not enough glass for coyote hunting until I tipped one over at 165 yds with it. Generally speaking, that's not a real long shot on avg, but it is longer than avg for most shots around here. I did not feel hindered without magnification.
A good magnified scope can help you "thread" a bullet through the woods if you don't have a defined clear shooting lane, but you can't beat a good red dot for fast target acquistion and shots at moving critters.
I can hit fixed targets out to 200yds pretty regular with it when plinking...soda bottles & such.
I have a quick detach system on my scopes, so changing them over takes about 20 seconds.

My RRA 16" M4 shoots real accurate with the new Burris dot sight. I take boxes of clay shotgun targets to the range and set them on the backstop which is about 125yds. from the bench. I have no problem hitting them consistently with the dot sight. I posted this question because I too felt I might be missing something by not having magnification on my AR, but for the terrain I hunt in I think it would be more of a hinderance than anything else.
