Has anyone ever tried or heard of CCI 22lr shotshell ammo. Its a 22 cartridge with a capsule full of small bbs for a bullet. Was wondering if it shot more like shotgun or if the capsule stayed together until impact. I was gonna give it a try rabbit hunting but I dont know much about the round.

I've found that it scatters pretty soon after leaving the muzzle...

It's great for shooting an errant bird that get in the garage, or really ticking off a snake...

I have them in .22, 9mm, and .357... I'll load the .357s as the first two rounds in a revolver when I go for Prairie Dogs, but I never truly count on them..

i have used them for snakes cant get them here anymore though.takes bout three in head to kill one it seems
.410 seems to be better snake wish i could find cheap .410 pistol

Handgun shot shells are pretty anemic for rabbit hunting. Tiny shot sizes, tiny amount of shot, really low velocity, and terrible patterns are the norm. Personally, I wouldn't think about using them for rabbit hunting.

22 bird shot is pretty ineffective. we always used it when we were kids killing rats and mice in our paps grainery. my brother raises meat goats and he uses it to kill them not safe to shoot them with regular 22 and he doesn't like to cut there throat which is the normal way to kill them. Jamie

Yeah i saw on the back of the box that it says it wont cycle through a semi auto but thanks for the input guys

You can manually cycle them. I don't like them, rifleing screws up patterns. Also I doubt it would kill a rabbit unless you were touching it's head.

They are good snake medicine up close, I usually keep one or two of them in the cylinder them in my NAA 22 Magnum pistol. I have used the 22 lr version on several good rat hunts and snuffed a few pigeons in barn rafters but they were very close. I highly recommend protective eyewear when using in closed in areas like barns/sheds. Like the others have said, I wouldn't shoot a rabbit with the 22 version.

I've killed many a rattlesnake with the CCI shotshells through my ruger revolver, but like the others are saying not very effective on rabbits. Rabbits just don't let me get that close. A .410 is a much better way to go if you are shooting rabbits on the run.
