anyone know where to run serial numbers?

Does anyone know of any websites where you can run serial numbers on firearms? I've got some I'd like to get more info on.
 
Go over to GunBroker.com's forums and under the 'Ask The Experts' catagory there is a sticky thread where links are provided to look up about any gun's serial number. That's always my first stop.
 
I've called some of the manufactures and got the info I needed. I'm down to a Glock that I'm trying to get the info on now. I've checked their site and got no info there, called and just keep getting a full answering machine. I'm going to try the gunbroker idea now and see if that works. Thanks for the help.
 
What type of info are you looking for? Some info can be had just by the serial number itself. Birth date, country of origin and such. If you are looking for previous ownerships or that type of info the number won't help.
 
If by running the numbers you mean make sure the gun isn't stolen I'm looking for the same thing. I buy a lot of guns through 3rd parties and am always worried about buying a stolen gun

The forums over at Glocktalk dot com used to have a running thread on Glock serial numbers but I'm not sure if it is still there. This was a pretty extensive list of serial #'s but it did not give any information about the firearm being stolen or not.
