Anyone know who makes Cabelas scopes?

Nobody knows, not even Cabela's. I bet it's Nikon or Bushnell.

I'd think that Cabelas better damn well know who is making their scopes? how could they not? Maybe they keep most of the employees in the dark, but someone has to know...

cabelas wont tell nor will scheels.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif..I have asked both and mum is the word.......

A lot of scopes and binos are made by Hakko (SP?) Optics of Japan and brand labeled for various retailers. These include some of Cabelas and Eagle Optics stuff, and the dicontinued S&W line of optics.

I just got my pair of Cabela's Pine Ridge 10x42 roof prism binos in the mail. $179 and it comes with a 30-day trial period no questions asked return policy.

The box is stamped "Made in Japan". The plastic wrap inside the box has German on it, then English below it. The actual binos say "Japan". The box and fabric carying case appears to be made for Cabelas.

The glass is very good quality after a quick look outside. I'm impressed so far. I'll report later after a field test hopefully next week.

I don't think Cabelas glass is all made by the same place.I have a pair of pine ridge binoculars like stiff neck and they are excellent glass for the money!About 4 yrs using em now. There pine ridge scopes are China made junk!If you look closely at the Alaskan guide series 3-9-40 looks like some features on a Weaver Grand Slam to me.I also have the Cabelas laser range finder.Great product.my 2 pennies /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gifI just looked my binos are porro prism ones.Still great japan optics! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I just returned my Cabela's Pine Ridge 10x42 roof prism binos today. They seem well built, and the optics are bright and clear. But there is always that thin fuzzy ring around the outside of the optics, like your eyes are not positioned correctly. No matter how close or far I adjusted, the rings were always there and they followed when I moved side to side. They're not real prominant, but I don't like them there.

I got a pair of Leupold's instead.

I used to work for Cabela's, and I know most of the employees have their own opinions about who makes what for whom. But believe me, opinions is all they are. No one knows for sure because the product line managers at corporate keep in under wraps pretty tightly. My opinion is the Alaskan Guide binos are made by leupold. They are great binocs and are similar to the Leupold Wind River series. The scopes are another matter however. I don't think they are made by Leupold. They could very well be made by another company. Whoever makes them is doing an excellent job. I have hunted with both the binocs and the scopes and they are great quality. The pine ridge series is an economy based line of optics and as such, they aren't up to par on quality with other major brands of optics.
I think you guys are on the right track, though. Look at the design features of the scope and that will most likely lead you to the origin of manufacture.
