Anyone night hunt with a Swarovski Z3?

Looking at a 4-12x50. I have used a friends during the day and the glass is great.

Are they just as good at night?

Tired of the Leupold on my night hunting rig. I just can't see half of what my friends with German glass can. I took one look through one of their scopes and knew it was time to change. Theirs were Zeiss, but I think I want a Z3.

Do they have an illuminated reticle to see it at nite most reticles at nite are hard for me to see without illumination. My Burris ffii balistiplex is the only reticle I could see good at nite without illumination.

Maybe I'd buy it!

I own a couple of Swaro Z3 scopes. While the glass is good their reticles are not heavy enough for serious night hunting.

My best low light capable scopes are Zeiss Victory and Victory HT models with german #4 illuminated reticles

Define "better". Just like with Binoculars European scope manufactures coat their scope lens with an emphasis on different things...

Ziss lens coatings are designed for light transmission. I own several European scope made by Zeiss, Swaro, Leica, Meopta, and Minox. Zeiss Victory HT models are the best scopes I owned for low light conditions.

Swarovski is know for resolution and clarity. The lens is extremely clear all the way to the edges.

Leica concentrates on color rendition and contrast.

Well I found a 3-12x50 Zeiss Duralyt on closeout today. It was still way over budget, but it's on the way.

I compared one locally to a Z3 and it was really no comparison. The Zeiss was easily better for me. Not exactly apples to apples, but I couldn't find a high end Swarovski within $500 of the deal I got on the DL.

sounds like you found a really nice scope. The best low light scope I have ever owned that was fairly light with a one inch tube was a Summit scope from Schmidt and Bender. I wish I would have kept it considering the current price.
