I've got a Remington 700 .243 that I am looking into making a long range gun. If you have one maybe some pictures and a list of what you have done.
Thanks,
Greg
I built one last summer with a 30" broughton barrel it has nikon monarch 5-20 on it and I also shoot the berger 105 vlds out of it. It is a real pig that weights in at a even16 lbs.

How far do you want to shoot?...and at what?
This was a stock 700 SS Mountain Guide at this time. 22" Mountain Rifle contour. Bell and Carlson TI stock. TLW's and a Nikon fixed 6x42. Shot this group at either 500 or 600 (would have to dig up notes to be sure) just off a pack for a rest. Not too bad for a sub 7# all-up killing rifle.
Same rifle as above at 500yds. It was in a McMillan Mountain Rifle stock and had a 1" leupold 3.5-10x40 w/turrets here.
This one's a 243AI that runs 105VLD's at 3200. Rock Creek barrel, McMillan A5, Seekins rings/rail, Leupold 3.5-10x40 Mark4. It too shoots, this was checking zero with 3 shots at 200yds.
5 @ 705yds
I'm a big fan of the 243/243AI as a low-recoiling rifle that really shines, even at long-range, with good bullets.
Most barrels run in the $300 price range, and installation usually runs $2-300.
Mine is a Brux barrel, and it's an Ackley too. I've shot the 105's out to 945 yards.
The scope is a 5-22x50 Nightforce.
Not much of a picture but it is a blueprinted 700 action with Badger rings, rail and bottom metal. Hart 1:7 twist MTU contour barrel. Leupold Mark 4 6.5x20 scope with TMR reticle. Bolt has been fluted and fluted bolt knob since picture, sitting in a Manners MSC-TA stock. I shoot the moly coated 115 DTAC and have no problems hitting 10" gong at 1300 on calm days. With a little breeze it takes a shot or two to get dialed in. I will post up a better picture later. It is my smalled LR gun but the one I enjoy the most. This barrel is only 25" as soon as I wear it out I am going to go with a 28" Brux.
I will say that once I had the bolt fluted and knob put on I also had the chamber bumped to 6mm CM which is like an ackley but keeps the original body taper to help feeding and bumps the shouder to 31 degrees I believe.
GAP built Rem 700 with KMW shifter
Bolt fluting by Chad Dixon of Longshot Rifles
RB LV-1 trigger
Rock 5R 1:7.5 twist, 26" tube, 5.5 contour
Micky A5 EDGE stock
Seekins DBM
Atlas bipod on a BT-17 rail
PH 3-15x50 'Lite Tac' w/ Gen 2MD
Seekins 20moa base & low rings
Rock & roll, it's just over 11 lbs and will flat out stack 115DTACs...

I like that one Levi. What are you getting with the 115's? Scott sent me some 115DTACS back when I had mine built. I built it around the 105 AMAX/VLD so went with a 1-9"tw. It didn't like 115's (grin)
I am getting 2904 fps with 47 grains h-1000 fireforming and will bump up to 49 grains with formed brass. When I screw on the longer barrel I will hold it back to 3000 fps and I love the dtac bullets. I do run the 105 amax bullets shooting prairie dogs on occasion.
