I have a nice grey fox that I recently shot, skinned, fleshed, and dried. I'd really like to get the hide tanned. Not interested in attempting it myself. Anyone have any suggestions on where I might be able to send it?
I've had multiple hides done and moyles mink farm in Idaho. The hide comes back soft and fur looks great. Ive also had furs done at usa fox and fur and its cheaper but that's about it. I guy I work with has done over 30 hides in the past 5 yrs, all from moyle with no problems what so ever.
after skinning and fleshing the hide, what is the next step I need to do in order for me to send it to a tannery? Salt? Dry on stretcher? Freeze? or what? Thanks
SALT it, rub it in good then next day shake off the salt and rub in fresh salt. When it is about dry a day or two later then roll it up, box it and ship it to the tannery.
