Anyone Seen this Powder Before? What's it Called?

An elk hunting friend took an old 375 Express round apart and found this "powder" inside. I've heard of long grain powders before but this seems to be extreme. Each strand is about an inch long and it's flexible.

not sure from the picture, but I believe its cordite. This was a long string powder used 100 yrs or so ago common in the old british express rifles
