Anyone shooting a Remington 700ML?

I recently bought a Rem 700ML SS. It had the old style No. 11 breech plug. I had it converted to a BadgerRidge conversion today and it looks like its going to make a great improvement over the old No.11's. It converts it to a 209 and the primer fits in the bolt face, not the breech plug. It also uses a firing pin like on a center fire rifle. They recommend Blackhorn powder and some of the guys that have already switched say the accuracy is excellent. We shall see!!

I have had one for several years. I converted mine to the 209 primer and I use the pellets made by Hodgdon ( I think).
Has worked flawlessly.

The BadgerRidge kit holds the primer in the bolt face kinda like the Savage smokeless rifle. Its supposed to keep all the powder out of the receiver and trigger. No blow back. Its not a cheap conversion but looks like it should be a big improvement.

P.S. This kit DOES NOT make it compatible with smokeless powder. That will be entirely up to the individual.

I am not familiar with that conversion. It has been so many years ago that I forgot but I think mine was the Remington conversion?
Yours does sound interesting.

I installed a Jewell trigger in mine too.

I'll have to check out that 209 conversion. I have one that uses 209 primers but it's a real PITA to get the spent primers out, especially when in a hurry. I use pyeodex pellets too.

The kits are a little pricey, about $160 plus installation. Then my smith did a trigger job too. It ran about $200 out the door. Said he cut me a break. LOL Old fart never cuts me a break!!

My old hand made TC Renegade shoots better than my 700ML, but I can't scope the Renegade. Killed more game with the Renegade too, using Hornady Great Plains bullets. I don't hunt ML season, there's no advantage to it anymore. Anybody need one?

I've had 5 different ones. Still have one. They all have shot very good. Use nosler 300 grain partitions on 2 50 grain pellets. Have the Remington conversion kit on it and shoot musket caps.

I was leaving the gun show last week-end and just happened to see this one on a table. He was asking $225 and I said I would give $175 and he took it. Its Stainless and had a cheap Simmons scope on it. I had new Leupold bases and rings at the house and a near new Nikon scope so I swapped them over. Then had the conversion and a trigger job done on it and I'm at $375 invested now. But a new Remington Ultimate ML will run you close to $800, so I don't feel to bad.

The fist horror of buying a used ML is wondering what the barrel looks like on the inside. When I got home, I opened the bolt and the old breech plug didn't look to good. To be honest, it looked pretty bad. I put a wrench on it and couldn't break it loose.I called a buddy that has a barrel vice and took it to his place but before hand, I gave it a good soaking with Kroil. When I got to my friends house, I used a ratchet and socket and got the breech plug broke loose and out. When I looked down the barrel.......the rifle was still loaded. OMG!!!! Lucky for me, the load pushed right out and the barrel is in very good condition. I can't believe people will leave a ML loaded after season is over. Makes no sense to me.

Just purchased the conversion with their install service. Came to right at $200, so your smith did cut you a little brake.
Hope their turn around time is pretty quick. Just got notified I drew a Muzzleloader bull elk hunt and it starts in October.

I'm going to try to get mine dialed in this week-end. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Congrats on the hunt!!

I put 10 rounds threw mine yesterday. I was shooting a fairly light load and mainly just getting on paper and trying out the new conversion kit. Accuracy was fair but the kit did what it is supposed to do. The bolt and receiver stayed clean and ignition was spot on. Accuracy wasn't a big issue because I had a bunch of wind and plan on upping the powder charge quite a bit. It still held decent groups for a smoke pole so all in all, I think its going to be a good accurate rifle.
