Anyone use scent with a decoy?

Just wondering if anyone uses scent with a decoy. My brainstorm is to case skin a snowshoe and insert a green foam(from a flower bouquet)piece to give it shape. I bought some rabbit urine and I figured I could give it a few squirts. My theory is to try to fool three of the coyotes senses.(smell, sight, sound)

Maybe I'm foolish. Any ideas?

Also, is rabbit urine mixed with glycol like fox and coyote urine? Do I need to cut it?
 
Hey Todd, funny for you to bring that up. On my last trip I decided to try using fox urine as a reassurance item for the foxes. I sprayed some within about 10 feet of the caller so when they came to the sounds of a pup in distress they would smell it as well. I did manage to call in a grey, but he hung up at 100 yards, not sure if it was the urine hurting me or the full moon. It will be interesting to pursue this further and see what the outcome is.....0-1 so far....lol
 
I use either fox or coon urine near the decoy. Rabbit or squirrel would be good too. But it doesn't take a lot, and that's a mistake I think many hunters make. They spray so much it's extrememly unnatural and maybe alarming. A couple of light spritz is all it takes.

why not leave the rabbit whole? I tried this last Sat,had a group come close but bust me somehow.

Jeez, Roadkill. Don't you think that would begin to stink after a while?(ha) I don't get a chance to hunt too much during the week, so I don't want to have to look for a rabbit everytime I want to go call coyotes.

Most years they'd stay good and frozen outside,but this crazy weather would make em smell some for sure. I wonder if thats a bad thing?
I put a couple in the freezer anyway,just wish I got them before they turned white,don't see how they'll help too much in the snow.
Are you collecting the urine from them?

No, I bought it at Brown's Trading Post for a couple of bucks. I'm pretty sure it was bought in bulk and then poured into a smaller bottle. I wonder if it has anti-freeze already in it...
