Hey guys what are the loads you have found that shoot most accuratly out of your Dtech 1:8's. I am trying to decide whether to use the Vmaxes in the AR or try something else.
I am going for accuracy here that is why I spent so much on this gun, give me all you can to make it happen thanks fellas.

Well, believe it or not, mine shoots 40gr VMax bullets very well. I'm loading Benchmark with them. The tight twist surprised me. I thought they might self-destruct when they left the barrel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Planning on trying Blitzkings (40s & 50s) with H335 in the next few days, and I'll let you know how they shoot.

I know a guy with a Les Baer AR with 1/8 twist and he shoots 77 grain match kings. I can get his load for you. It is very accurate out to 600 yds. Just kidding, I know you want varmint size bullets. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have 8 twists in bolt guns only, but 40's to 75's are a gimme. I only wish the factory built rifles would get with it and offer their .22 centerfires with an 8 twist. I think it is the way to go. When one of them gets with it and offers a lightweight, well balanced rifle it will be a seller. I don't mean the tikka's with their milkjug magazine rifle's either.

My RRA 1-8" likes 40gr Vmaxes over 28gr of H335 with Rem. 7.5 primers in Winchester brass.

This load is a half grain over max, so work up and be careful.

My two latest loads were 24gr. of VV133 and 24gr of AA2015 both with 60 gr Sierra HP's.Both loads are very accurate in my Bushmaster and I shot them today out of the Banquet Auction Rifle and the three five shot groups were all under 1 inch and that was with one foul shot in each group because I was cleaning every 5 shots. I took a picture but am computer challenged so I am having trouble posting it.

I have the Dtech 1:8 Oly SUM 20" with comp. The load I'm tuning on is 23.9gr of AA2015 (.1 below pub max) behind a 55gr VMax with Win primers. My avg vel is 3123 fps, SD 13.89 Temp was mid 60s and a bit of wind blowing 10-15 from every direction. This is a 5 shot group at .6 and if I take out the top hole (trigger operator error I'm sure) it trims the group by quite a bit. Seating was 2.25" 24.0 the groups opend up a little along with high teens SD. I'm going drop the charge .1 and play with crimp to see if I can get the SD down.

I have the RRA 24" 1-8' twist. It likes the 50 and 55 gr. v-maxes with CCI 450 primers and 26 and 27 gr. of BL-C(2) respectively. I did a 40 gr v-max load that shot well at 100, but didn't do much past that. It was 26 gr BL-C(2) also. Below is the 50 gr. load at 100yds. The red dot is the size of a dime.

Below is the 55gr. load at 100yds.

ARCORY, The center and lower right groups were shot by a customer from a 24" RRA Varmint A4, before and after I cut the barrel from 24 to 22 inches. Top left is my AR.

Dan and ARCOREY,

Are you sure those groups came from those over priced, over rated RRA's?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

By the way Dan I got the letter yesterday, thank you very much, you will be hearing from me in the future!!!

Mine wasn't as expensive as some of the rattle trap bushy A-2's I've held. I did some waiting and wheeling and dealing and presto, 24" SS Varmint upper with NM A-2 lower Warne Tactical QR rings, 20 rd. Bushmaster mag, slightly used Burris Signature 6x-24x-44mm scope and only spent $279 cash for the lower and dumped a worthless Encore with 280 Rem barrel and 22-250 barrel for the rest. Now I can actually hit what I shoot at /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Dan,

I got three already, need to slow down a little. The boys love to shoot them so it makes the varmit trips a lot of fun. You will hear from me on the next one, the wheels are turning already. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Dan Carey, how is that top left group .231" when the diameter of a bullet is .224. You've got a bullet's diameter in the middle plus the 2 on each side. Looks more like .450"?

The other 2 look similar and surely aren't .38" groups?

No offense here, just trying to see if i'm measuring wrong myself?

My best groupings came from 25.6gr of W748 with a 55gr Nosler Spitzer (sportsmans was out of varmint packs in the vmax)

It also really likes the 60gr vmax with 25.8gr of RL15.

None of the hand loads were over 1.1" though.

Im thinking hes subtracting the bulet diameter from the edge to edge group size. Its one method fellas use to measure groups, especially if they like to brag! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.giflol. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
