ive got a nice spot light setup for coyote hunting at night but my light does not have a red lense. ive tried the red tail light tape and that did not work very well, even tried clear tape and coloring it with a red permanent marker, but that doesnt work very well either. is there any place that just sells like a red clear plastic to put over the lense? thanks for the help

Dan

They have them at BassPro Shops in the campind dept.I believe they are around $5.00 and come with both red and yellow.

There was a very nice poster here who offered to send some gel type filter to me from a music store I believe. He loved it and it sounded like it had worked very well for his lights. All you have to do is cut it the right size for your light, and it can take a ton of heat.

Give me a couple of days and I will go back and find his post. I need to anyway, because I owe him a thank you for his offer.

I get my custom lens built by a guy here in IN, that CNC cuts them from Acrylite GP. His prices are very reasonable and competitively priced with production lens. I've given him dimensions down to the 32nd of an inch before and they arrive the exact dimension that you give him. He'll make any size, from mini-maglite to 15 million cp spotlight.

I really like the red color he offers as it's a very dark red, not pink like some other well known brands that call their lenses "red". He also offers custom infrared lens and other colors as well. His name is Mike and you can get a price quote by contacting him at this address, schmidt46@aol.com.

Here's one that works very well and its cheap and easy. Get some clear nail polish and a red ball point pen. disassemble the pen and cut off the tip with scissors. Blow the ink into the nail polish (like a straw). Using the ink from two pens will make a darker red. Mix the ink very well and pour onto the lens of your light. Make sure the light is perfectly level while drying. This works great! It's unaffected by heat. If you aren't satisfied with the color or something you can clean it off with nail polish remover or Acetone. This works very well for making red lenses on LED head lights too. Good hunting!

one thing i have found that works was the top from a set of lee dies or powder measure. also i ran across krylon translucent red spray paint at a walmart for $2 i couldnt belive it. but the quick and best way is a good old red sharpie cleans easy with window cleaner and works give it a try. good luck

stop at your local florist and ask for the red plastic wrap they use for flowers. couple of bucks for a big piece.
im using it on a 1 million c.p. spotlite and it hasnt melted yet.
